He's good! I think he'd do well at Arsenal to be honest, I wouldn't see him as automatic first team straight away mind, but he's good enough to become that.

He's recently been called up to the French national side iirc :).

You're starting to be as boring as Moses with your questions Purdy, just google Mancini RVP and RVP Man City and you'll find the quotes from both parties

(I bet I can guess what your reply to this will be)

Ah yes, sorry for asking a question which would be

a) dumb from Mancini to come out and say they were desperately after him when United got him. (Which he did in fairness)

b) van persie saying he was never interested in joining City (which I can't find and I'm sure he wasn't going to say he was once at United, unless he said it before hand :))

What's he like?

If you meant in terms of how he plays, he's an attacking midfielder who can play on the right hand side or just behind the forward. In my opinion he's better as part of a midfield three, he's got a good range of passing and great vision and ability but he's not quite the finished model yet. Still got a while to go yet.

I think he'd be a good signing but Arsenal already have a player heavy midfield.

So the Falcao to Monaco deal is supposedly worth £51mill and hes signed for 5 yrs. Interesting to see if he will stay the full 5 yrs or will he move in a yr or 2 to say Real as the rumours a few weeks back were that he would move to Real next season.

Gonna be an interesting season in the french ligue1 next season with PSG and Monaco the big spenders now.

I'm still a bit cautious about the Cesar deal, I haven't actually read anything concrete saying he has signed so for the time being I'm just assuming it's a rumour more than anything else. As much as we need an experienced keeper to teach Szczesny should that not be the job of the goalkeeping coaches at the club? I'm not sure who our coach in that department is at the moment, last time I checked it was Gerry Peyton, if he's not up to it then surely we could bring some ex-players in to take goalkeeping training sessions, Seaman, Lehmann maybe?

As far as other transfers go Sky are going with some quotes from Clement Grenier, I have no idea what he's like as a player, never seen him play but the Lyon coach doesn't really want to let him go so I'm guessing he's half decent.

Like I said I have no idea what he's actually like, we could do with another creative player, it'll give Cazorla a break and Wilshere's fitness problems could become a problem if he continues to pick up injuries.

Seems to be highly rated according to this article, Lyon president wants £31mill for him if they were to sell him...not really sure if he is a £31mill rated player myself. But hes been likened to Nasri in the way he plays, lets hope if he does sign for us...he doesnt turn out to have the same crappy attitude that Nasri had with us.

Really??? surprised about that as from what i have read it was a rumour. Brilliant goalkeeper though, made some fine saves for QPR this season and better still hes Brazilian so instant like from me:p.

Our last two Brazilians didn't turn out too great :p

Didn't United let their goalkeeping coach go? Wouldn't mind brining him in after the job he's done with DDG.

what's the difference between tapping a player up and a club saying they want a target (bale) to hand in a written transfer request?

£80m being banded about. lolz.

He's had one very good season and scored some spectacular goals but he isn't worth Ronaldo money until he can do this on a season by season basis, his form could just be a flash in the pan.

Bale needs one more season in the Premiership and 40+ goals to command anywhere near that type of money. His trajectory is actually very similar to Ronaldo, while he was just picking up steam in the Premiership, in terms of his games to goals ratio over the last two seasons so a third with 40+ goals would go a long way to justifying that fee. At the moment, any more than 40 million is too much imo.

LOL thats true...Santos :/...if Cesar has signed for us then hopefully he wont be as bad as Santos...still cant find any real confirmation that he has signed for us.

£80m for Bale just seems ridiculous.

True, stupidly high price for a player who has had one good season...if he had a couple of good seasons then fair enough but still if Real want to ***** that much money on a player then let them...would be hilarious if they did and he turned out to be some huge flop there:p

When did Mancini desperately want rvp and rvp make it clear he wasn't interested?

Also Cesar is a great signing for Arsenal

Well Im pretty sure Mancine said a few times he wanted to sign RvP quite badly, and RvP for his part has said that he was on the verge of a move to Juve before Utd got involved and he asked Juve - being polite from how advanced their talks were - for permission to sign for Utd.

http://www.football-italia.net/33427/van-persie-asked-juve-blessing

( I previousely saw quotes from RvP himself on the same thing during last season)

so City were at best 3rd choice lol

Well done Arsenal, you now have a really decent keeper for the first time in ****** ages.

The Liverpool Echo are reporting that Suarez does NOT have a £40m release clause at all (not saying they will be any more accurate than anyone else, just putting it out there)

If Bale were to go for 80m (lol) then we were well and truly shafted by Madrid for Ronaldo :(

Wouldn't have made any difference - Fergie still wouldn't have spent the additional £20m on a midfielder of note lol

Difference is, Cesar has already played in the PL and aside from the odd mistake (likely down to the defence rather than him) he was really very good.

Not really, at the time Ronaldo was sold to Real for £80mill, it was outrageous but unlike Bale hes proven his worth to Real...one of the best players on the planet.

Cant say the same about Bale, one good season does not make him an £80mill player...its as simple as that and Real would be foolish to spend that much on a player, who hasnt really proven himself at the very top. He wont be playing in the CL next season, courtesy of us pipping them at the end:p.

Actually i disagree with that statement because Chessers has been decent, hes had the few odd games where hes made some errors but generally he has been very good and same with Fabianski when he came into to replace Chessers a few times this season.

But if Cesar can be as good as Chessers and Fabianski then all good, my only issue is that hes pretty old now but from what i have seen at QPR...hes still pretty damn good.

Yep seen him in action a few times and was very impressed with him, even though hes getting on a bit now. If he can do the same sort of performances that he did with QPR for us then ill be a happy bunny.

Now i just want us to sign some bigger name players to strengthen our squad rather than buying unknown players, who may or may not succeed at Arsenal.

Remember its not likely to be £80m for the transfer - more likely that figure will include 4 or 5 years of wages as well (£50m /30m split or there abouts?)

I could see the transfer being that high if Levy sold to an EPL competitor, but I think he has recently said he got too much grief after Berbatov transfer to consider doing it again - so RM are in the £ seats as it were.

Still crazy money given how short he has been at this performance level but that's never stopped RM from throwing "their" money around lol

.

There is also a step up in class between "decent" and Cesar's ability / performances

Well i suppose one day we will find out if Bale will be sold or not. I wasnt aware that transfer fees included the wages and contract length, i was always under the impression that the transfer fee only included the sale of the player and wages/contract were a separate entity to that.

Will be an interesting summer transfer window to see if Bale jumps to Real or not.

True but as i said previously, the only thing that worries me about Cesar is his age but if he can continue to have sterling performances for Arsenal like he did at QPR then great...at least it will give Chessers and Fabianski more fuel to improve themselves. Dont get me wrong i like Cesar and i still think hes a top goalkeeper but his age is what bothers me. But a good couple of yrs out of him will suit me fine.
