The media in Italy are notorious for printing things like that. Did they not run with Sneijder to Utd for a few days straight?

If it is indeed true then Chelsea have got a fantastic player.

If it is true I wonder if we will now move onto other players or just keep what we have and utilize Dzeko more!

So was the rest of the league ;)

Haha, chris cohen who has done quite a bit for chelsea tv is saying that it's a done deal...

As always, never guaranteed until it's announced, but my source rarely gets it wrong (Mourinho, RVP, Mata, Johnson..) What a signing though!

Guess we'll know soon enough, not long before more widespread news coverage if it is true.

Edit: And as suspected rory smith is tweeting regarding this, states that interest is very real but as of lunch time no deal has been agreed. Also states we are very likely to get jovetic...

Maybe they put 2+2 together since the Napoli president is holding talks with Chelsea and the paper is just guessing they agreed a 58 million fee? Only way they could know is if they had inside sources, i just think they probably threw it out there to sell headlines.

What's all this about Shelvey asking to leave Liverpool and Arsenal being odds on to sign him?

I don't even.........

Hmmm from what im reading, its not Arsenal being interested in him but Norwich??, made a few enquiries about him but Liverpool want between £5mill to £8mill for him.

Thats what i read this morning from the Daily Fail.

I do hope that a lot of these big names like Cavani, Sneijder, Ronaldo etc. do end up coming to the Premiership. There has been quiet a sad trend of big names moving away from England in recent years, and I seems to me like it has had an effect on the overall quality of our league (easy to see when looking at the UCL performances from our teams).

The PL got sick of all the other leagues talking smack about it. These things always go in cycles. We have had more PL teams in the latter stages of the CL than any other league for years yet as soon as we don't have someone in the final everyone is gushing about the German and Spanish leagues and saying the PL is rubbish.

Its a different style of league and unless we suddenly get the climate and culture of places like Milan, Barcelona, Madrid etc we won't always be at the top of every star players list of places to visit.

Chelsea have won the CL and EL over the last 2 years so I think criticising English football is just the trendy thing to do at the moment.

Without wanting to take anything away from Chelsea (winning the CL is always a great achievment), are we really happy with the style of football that was utilised to win it? It was Stoke-esque football with a generous sprinkle of diving thrown in.

I've seen stories about him leaving but not stating that he asked or anything linking him with Arsenal. Supposedly Norwich and possibly West Ham are after him.

Shelvey's an odd player (and I don't just mean his looks) - he's still fairly young and shown the odd sign that he's got something about him but he's not shown any sign of improvement since midseason and neither does he excel at anything.

Pigeon's a fan I've heard though.

has anyone from Wigan moved? Maloney, Mcmanaman and one of either McCarthy or McArthur were good (can't remember which), will they presumably join another lower-end Premiership club?

He's literally making up the numbers against any team that have a half decent midfield. Good against minnows that give him time and space but utterly abysmal against everyone else. Not really surprising he looked far better in the Championship.

Shelvey's good enough for a bottom three Premiership team or a Championship team and I'd happily take £3 million for him. Team that buys him can have Bottler for free.

Weird thing about Shelvey is that he appears to have gone backwards skill wise. He used to come up with some great pieces of individual skill and had great touch (at least sometimes). This was back when he was more a part of the youth system though, nowadays he just looks like a total donkey. I wonder if it's a composure thing and he just can't mentally handle even low pressure games?
