Sunglasses: Polarization

Another vote for polarised here, I do agree with the comment about it feeling less sunny, they are very dark (well at least mine are). You do see some funny rainbows on things and it does make a phone screen look pseudo 3d. They are actually quite good for driving in the rain too.

I guess that's the idea of them really.

I've had polarised Oakleys for year and I wouldn't go back.

You get glare from all kinda places and it's amazing how much they can kill. Driving is a prime example - no glare from the reflection of your dash in the front screen, the road reflects less and goes darker, glare from other car windows disappears and no longer distracts....plus it makes the blue sky look nicer :D

Can barely make out my mobile screen (Galaxy SII without a screen protector) with my polarised Oakleys, but other than that, a big thumbs up to polarised.

had squarewires for god knows how many years now, black iridium polarised lenses, love them, use them for driving mostly also use them for mountain biking, brilliant glasses.
however they are in pretty bad way these days, lenses are covered in tiny scratches/chips, have been looking for another set for a few days now, 100% on black iridium polarised lenses again but unsure on frames:confused:

?

It has been proven that polarized lenses improve your reaction times and your distance vision. I would quote the source but im on my phone and cannot find it!

With improved reactions come decreased response times. He isn't disagreeing, you just used the wrong word.

I wear regular glasses for driving so have polarised clip-ons to use when it's sunny. They're fantastic and there are no problems at all with the heated front screen.

Conclusion of thread... I have bought a pair of polarised Oakleys :) Should be here Monday/Tuesday.

Thanks all for the helpful feedback

Don't use for flat light conditions (eg low vis skiing), other than that, they're great.

Only ever buy/wear polarised. They are far superior. Also, polarised are not cheap, so you know its a quality made lens.
What has the lens coating got to do with the quality of the lens manufacture? It's not always going to be a direct correlation.

Does anyone know how much it'd cost to get some regular sunglasses "polarised"?

I bought some polarised glasses and the difference it made was very noticeable to the point my wife fancies some but she loves her existing sunglasses.

You could just get new lenses? But your best option is to take them to an opticians, preferrably with its own lab, and ask.
