Well, due to my unfortunate...incident with the Rover, it is no more :(

Luckily, i can cycle to work as its only a couple of miles. However, soon enough I'll need to get back on the road, so i'm looking for a super cheap car!

Something like my old 205 Diesel would be ideal, but i don't have that any more :(

So..suggestions? preferably in the £300 or below price range, and i'd prefer a petrol car over a diesel. Insurance isn't really a problem on small engined, small cars :)

Thanks!

Seriously, I don't know the story but I'd recommend another Rover for that money. Failing that, and this isn't taking the michael, a 1.3 Micra. Mechanically very reliable, and awesome fuel economy. I think you could get a K11 one for nearer £400....

:(

You've got such a huge market to chose from Ben.

Another Rover would be good. Even an old £50 banger with HGF. You could use some of the stuff you don't sell from the SEi on it.

Failing that, a Nova, Fiesta, 205?

There are some absolutely awesome bargains if you know where to look :)

Btw, you going to post any pics of the 214. Show these lovely people what you did :p :( (jk mate)

Had an accident, nothing to do with Rover 'reliability' :p

I thought about a Micra, although i'm not sure about costs of parts on these? For some reason I hadn't thought about another Rover..

this car would just be a stop gap until I can afford/finished a 205 GTi.

I thought about another 205 as well, my old 1.1 was pretty good on fuel/insurance etc. I'm not really bothered about stigma of certain cars, I drove a 17 year old 205 for a year!

Pictures are for another thread, posted tomorrow.

LMAO! I bet you both had a good chuckle about that.

You can get old Metro GTi's with the 16v K-series in. Most of the newer ones come with either 1.1's or 1.4 8v's.

Nothing to stop you sticking the 16v engine on throttle bodies with cams and a bit of headwork. 125bhp Metro

P.S. I was only joking about seeing the pics first... but ok :D

Stop tempting me...although I'm not sure what state the engine is actually in, what with being turned upside down and all.

Yep, that's what I thought. It'd probably need draining of all its fluids (including brake and PS)... actually suprised the PS cap didn't come off and spill fluid all over the place.

But there's only one way to find out... fill it back up with oil and coolant and get cranking :)

No caps came off at all, i was quite suprised, although the car leaks oil a bit now, so i'm not so sure. If i can't sell the engine i might take it apart to learn a few things :)

Where's it leaking from? The sump gasket needed replacing anyway, but if you've bent the head or smacked the sump... well, that's not good :(

Where's my pics!!!!!11233455  :p

*cough* Yes, sorry, back on topic

If you had put all the money you've used to buy old cars from OcUK members in a pot you'd have the cash for a 205 GTi now, not as if they are expensive :p

expensive enough :) I'm thinking about buying a GTi with good bodywork, but not a brilliant engine. I hope to rebuild the engine and learn a few things :)
