The rules are: send me a psn friend request and I can add you. I will continue to update the scoreboards as everyone's score increases. Bump this thread if you have a new high score.

The gaol is to have fun, improve your scores, and if you can, get to the top of the leaderboards!!

I'll update the leaderboard intermittently with final highest scores posted by midnight on the 28th. Just a friendly challenge ... If it's successful we could open it up to different challenges in the future

cool - will do updates in a bit, but looks like rp2000 is the one to beat ;) - heh, I tried to improve my score on the first planet just before kept making daft mistakes, funny how your concentration does pick up though :)
 
Bah, score of over 9 million and my net connection drops :p Still, no point in worrying as will try and beat that pretty soon anywho :)

I finally updated the scores :) If anyone fancies being added to the scoreboard just add me in your psn and I'll get round to updating them.

Expect some changes in leaderboard position over the Christmas holidays, 100+ million is my next target ... mwhahahaha ;) :p
 
^yeah, I'll try and sort it out on Saturday - the last planet is brilliant fun - first time I've defeated the end boss, no way would I have got 12+ million though if I hadn't got that shield when I did :)
 
Noooo!!! lol - was on 7million on Taranis with shield & a decent multiplier, should easily have got above 8million then lost nearly all my lives :p (did it in 100 seconds though, time limit is 400 :)). Gonna be up all night now ...
 
Started updating the scores and tidying the first post, and sent out some psn friend requests, will try & add off rp2000's photo's too but will be much easier to keep uptodate if I can see a live list on the Super Stardust scoreboards (man, I hope the new update doesn't add another 5 planets to keep track of :p :)).

Blast Factor is pretty fun (I'm looking forward to the expansion), difficult to compare because it plays very differently to Super Stardust in a few different ways. I prefer Stardust to BF at the moment but the style of BF is refreshingly different for me that it's nice to have a change every now and then :)

Good score - I just got over 71million putting in almost exactly as much time as you did - 1hr 14minutes - those extra 7 seconds between our times must've been some manic gaming to get that extra 24million ;) :p Guess I relied on using bombs a bit too much on certain bits.

In case anyone didn't notice the update lets you check a load of other stats - L1 & R1 will cycle between them on the scoreboards :)

I'm not too bad on planet LAVE, but I can never get 6 weapon upgrades on the 1st wave, as recomended by rp2000, I'm lucky if I get 4! Is there a trick to get weapon upgrades, instead of white point 'pickups'?

I have a(n unproven) theory that the quicker you destroy the green rocks the more likely the chance it will contain an upgrade, although there seems to be a fair bit of randomness too it - I got 3 shield pick-ups all on screen at the same time on one planet (one of the later ones I think) - I pannicked and tried to pick them all up and promptly got killed :p (picking up a shield when you already have one acts as a bomb, very useful in some situations, especially if your weapons are fully upgraded).

If I'm playing Lave on arcade I tend to upgrade my rock crusher first until it's firing about 3 shots then the gold melter as I personally find it's the best weopon to dispatch the bosses with. Notice, the colour of the enemies corrosponds with the colour weapon that's (usually) most efficient against it :)
 
More updates of leaderboard tomorrow, seeing as my friends list has grown, & seeing as I'm still shaky from my new leaderboard score on Taranis :)
 
^ noticed you were on and tried to pre-empt your Taranis score by getting an even bigger one, I reckon I can get to 12million if I didn't keep losing ships :p

edit: still finding it difficult to consistently get 6miilion & above on Lave though ... perhaps a change of strategy is needed :)

Beat the boss on the previous planet. I think you can unlock in both arcade mode and planet mode (I did it a while ago so someone could please verify the last bit :)).

edit: the bosses are actually quite easy (sorta Ninja Gaiden definition of 'easy' :p) when you get used to them, assuming you manage to stay alive through the sea of asteroids that tends to start each boss section (wait for the boss on the 5th planet - brilliant!!).

happy 2008 all :) Taranis is easily one of my favourite planets, I lost one life and numerous shields to get my 12,704,010 score but I reckon 13+million is pretty achievable - gonna try and get in the top 1000 for every planet, top 500 if possible and work on my arcade score.

The final boss bit on Taranis is pretty cool - I'm at the stage where I can beat it most of the time without losing a life (shield or no shield) - ideally, I think it's just a matter of topping up the gold melter as much as possible and boosting through as soon as the boss turns round - can defeat both bosses in 100 seconds usually :)

I'm actually quite enjoying this game more since starting this thread - a bit of competitiveness has boosted up my planet scores more & quicker than I probably would've had otherwise. There's also something to be said about appreciating a game past the initial hype - back in my old Amstrad days one or two games would last me weeks / months whether I liked it or not, and with the huge amount of games available now I'd started to lose appreciation of the work that goes into them and the fun that can be had out of replaying them because it gets too easy to move onto something new (guess I'm getting older and wiser? :p :)).
 
eeps, you go back to work and all sorts of new high scores pop up!! Luckily I got out early due to snow and am now having a quick sandwich after beating it on normal ... I have to go out in 20 minutes for an hour or two though - do I leave it pause with my c. 70million score till I get back? :p

edit: what if it unpauses when I'm out? What if random backround radiation from space manages to mimic a bluetooth signal and unpauses my game? Oh no!!!! :p

yeah, what if what if :p beat my score but I can do much better - climbing back up the leaderboard an inch at a time, 96+million :) Well done on the Lave score :)

I just zoom through it which takes out one or two of its weak points straightaway then finish it off with the gold melter, then just shoote asteroids with the rock crusher until it becomes vulnerable again (switching to zoom / gold melter when the ufos appear). Rinse & repeat :) Not sure how efficient it is but it might be useful for people to post their times and strategy to figure out which is best :)
