Supplements the debate/discussion thread

I don't understand? So the offers on the website are customer service offers? Sent in a ticket yesterday but I don't think I'll get any word back. Such a shame as I was looking foward to adding these cookes to my diet :(

Put an order in for Driven Sports craze last week, and so far its the best pre workout i have tried. Amazing focus, makes you want to train harder and longer, i have to pull myself out of the gym. It gives you a great feeling of well being.

If you havn't tried it I suggest you do! brilliant supplement

My MP load arrived this weekend. Whoop.

The MP One milk cartons vanilla taste awesome, practically like a slightly liquified vanilla yoghurt/dessert. Creatine pills are, well, creatine pills, will have to wait until I've been on them a couple of days and worked out to see how they go. Haven't tried the samples of whey but I'll do that over the next couple of week :)

So, how much will prices be going up from midnight tonight? I know that now VAT will be put onto all purchases but is ANY tax put on it at the moment ?

Will we see a straight 20% increase in prices or do they already get taxed, say 10%, so the effect will only be a 10% increase?

Also, do we think that retailers will absorb some of the increase in order to maintain competitive prices??

I think people like maximuscle will have to absorb some hit as their prices +20% is just far too much. Is it really going to be a 40% tax on supps? thats just mad, betting chips and butter get cheaper....cos you know less fit people more coronaries in your 40's.

Supps are generally classed as food and are therefore zero-rated for VAT at the moment.

From midnight, they will incur 20% VAT on top. This means - straight up - a 20% price increase. Practically, however, this will give retailers and manufacturers a chance to bump basic prices and blame VAT. It will also give them an excuse to bump unaffected products (like meal replacement drinks) by choosing to apply the 'tax' to them and rake in the money. So expect the worst, and potentially be pleasantly surprised. :)
