When the American woman was beaten by a falling Barbadian in the last Olympic 400m final, the Americans cried 'cheat'. Of course, their guy won a bronze doing the same thing in the men's final 8 years earlier.

It's not cheating - the way you run the race isn't prescribed, just that you finish when your torso crosses the line. I saw a study suggesting it's slower to dive, but it was talking about baseball players making it to safety - I don't think it is slower when it comes to running.

I guess it becomes tricky to stop finishes like that. Ok the one in the above video clearly looked deliberate, but people have stumbled as they've got closer to the finish line, could they be mistaken for 'cheating' as well?
