Swapping a N97

Had a load of issues with my nokia n97 and been told I can swap it for another phone (not apple, blackberry or palm).

Was offered the nokia n97mini, but the memory is quite a lot smaller than the normal n97 - any suggesions on a phone, must have a touchscreen, gps and half decent camera with flash.

HTC Hero or Magic.

Try HD2 first.

cameras on HTC phones are rubbish though, no flash on the Hero or Magic. The HD2 has 'pink' issues with its camera (hot fixed released, but is that just compensating for hardware fault?) it has a flash, but if you are swapping a phone for the N97 then surely it has to be similar value? The HD2 is I expect more expensive.

If you want a good camera, the only phones I can think of that fit your requirements are:

Nokia N97
Nokia N97 Mini
Sony Ericsson Satio
Samsung i8910HD

I'd probably pick the Mini. From what a friend has said, it's the N97 done right. The Satio has been heavily bug-ridden (and apparently the battery is insufficient) and the i8910 seems to have some issues too.

Funny that they're all on S60... HTC need to figure out how to make decent cameras

N900 - ticks the boxes and it's a Nokia. Camera is fine, touchscreen is great and it is a better OS.

Im in the same position! I currently have a Nokia N97 on voda from Dial a phone, its spent the last 2 months in repairs having to be sent back twice, if it comes back again broken im going to request a new phone but dont know what to get.

Ideally I would like the Nokia N900 but is this even out yet? also isnt it more expensive that the Nokia N97? how will they swap it for an N97???!

Why would you swap your N97 that doesn't work properly for a small N97 that also doesn't work properly?

That said, it is available from Nokia only at the mo. You shouldn't accept the N97 if it's pants, dial a phone will have the N900 soon enough.

Get dialaphone to let you out of your contract if you can and get a contract the mpd who do have the N900? This and other threads are making md so glad I didn't upgrade real early to get the N97, whcih, on paper, was hugely exciting. What amazes me is the N900 still isn't being promoted when the N97 is obviously a lame duck. Nokia need to fix what is out there and quietly wring it's neck, not splash it over the media as their flagship, it will just end up with many more frustrated users who will dump Nokia next time round.
