This one is unashamedly aimed at Kree.

I'm going to the Alps in summer with a small group and would like to do the Grimsel pass. Is it possible to get there and back in a day from Chamonix (where we are staying) or are we better off going for a different pass/passes?

More importantly, is it possible to do this without a Vignette as they're rather pricey just for a day?

Awesome. Thanks for that mate. Was thinking a trip to Zermatt would be a good idea for a short day out from Cham mid week. Will have a chat with the guys and see if they're up for the boring ride to get to Grimsel and will decide from there whether we get Vignettes.
£150 for 5 people for 1 day seems a bit much but we could ride back up to Calais via Switzerland I suppose. Assuming there's no tolls on the motorways with the vignette system?
