hi all,

building a new system and so have to tear down the existing loop (i'm so lazy there is a gtx 480 in there that is plugged into the mobo but hasn't had power to it in 4 years). anyway, i've always used a bit of zerex with DI water and a silver kill coil, was thinking of switching to EC6.

however, i'm quite lazy (as evidenced above), this loop through it's various incarnations has been running since 2007 and i've only done a full change of the water twice in that time. loop was fine both times, no gunk, no build-up. has anyone used EC6 for a long period of time, or do you drain and refill yearly?

also, anything i need to worry about when switching? i have read that you shouldn't switch coolant types in the same loop but not sure if that's just scare-mongering.

I ended up dismantling the entire loop and flushing the rad/pump/res in the bath. All new tubing and new block, also using the EC6 now.
