Hi,

I currently own a pair of DM602s but would like to switch to bookshelf speakers to save space.

What is my best bet for a maximum of £200? How much, if any, quality will I be sacraficing for this price?

Generally play a lot of rock/punk, some dance, and watch a few DVDs....

I've seen the B&W 686s but can't seem to find any for my budget, and also the Monitor Audio BR2s..

They will be run through a Rotel RA-01 and a NAD C 541i.

Many thanks.

Not sure about quality as such but moving to smaller speakers would make them generally less responsive to lower bass frequencies.
I have 602s also and have found the bass very good on them although if you have a seperate sub I guess this is less of an issue.

Just looking at the 686s though, other than height I wouldn't have said that they were significantly smaller for saving space. Are your current ones on seperate stands?

Yes the bass is fantastic on the 602s, wouldn't like to miss out on it if I moved to bookshelf...

Yes, they are on stands in corners of the room, would be putting bookshelf speakers on my desk.
