T M Lewin issue -

I've literally just placed an order with Charles Tyrwhitt. I keep meaning to try Lewin but I've been very happy with the CT fit so don't want to risk changing.

Sometimes I don't wear a tie to work so the business-casual shirts look ok but not enough colours for my liking.

I can't decide whether to get cut away collar or classic, thoughts?

If you go for a wider collar then use a half Windsor, other than that it's just down to personal preference. I have a mixture of both.

Ah ok, in that case i'll get a classic collar then for now.

Really don't know about cuffs or buttons, maybe cuffs are a bit "much" for where I work.

I like to wear shirts outside of work casually also, especially white ones so maybe buttons because of this?

6 month no quibble guarantee with Charles Tyrwhitt too. I splashed olive oil on a brand new £80 tie and they replaced it with no questions asked. Also had an ironing accident and smeared molten purple nylon Premier Inn carpet over the collar of a shirt which again they replaced for me.

TM vs CT - I find TM collars and cuffs less "substantial" than CT, TM shirts are shorter in the body, and TM are definitely slimmer fit than CT (when comparing like for like in sizes)
I prefer the TM range of colours though (they have a good range of blue white & pink stripes which is my preference) which annoys me because I know the quality isn't quite up to CT levels so these days I stick to CT almost exclusively.

I used to work as a manager for TM Lewin i suggest you to get a refund from them and buy Charles Tyrwhitt or Ede and Ravenscroft shirts as they are a much better quality. TM Lewin shirts get ruined after your first wash thats why they are so cheap.

Rather confused, are there clothes stores who do not allow one to try on clothes?
Maybe I am missing something.

Some places dont allow you to try shirts that are folded/packed, Some TM lewin store dont either it depends on the manager or staff member if they can be bothered to refold the shirt

I'd agree with this, I've just gone and bought a load of Lewin shirts recently entirely due to their range of colours. I prefer other makes, in fact I even prefer M&S over them but the selection of colours and patterns from everywhere else is dire. They all have multi buy deals on but I can't go into other shops and pick out say 4 shirts that I actually like. I only seem to be able to do that in Lewin.

I prefer buttons to double cuffs, but that's just me. Reasons are I find cufflinks annoying when using a computer as they clink on the desk, plus I don't find double cuff shirts as comfortable. Also, you then have to find cufflinks when putting the shirt on.

Double cuff shirts do make it look like you're making more of an effort though. That may be a good or bad thing, depending on the "done thing" in the office.

Rgds
