Gallery really bogs down now with this update, under a mb ain't too bad but anything higher makes for painful viewing.

I (embarrassingly) only just figured out why it was called FroYo.

Was very confused as all the other versions had sweet food names, then I sussed this meant frozen yoghurt, doh!

I'm on 3 and still waiting for the update, they seem to be taking their sweet time!

Can anyone tell me, with this update does it allow you to install apps to the SD card? 720p will be nice too! Ta

mate in work is on T-Mobile and has the Milestone, has an official update been released for that or will it be ?

I have download it but then nothing happened and i am still showing im on 2.1 the when i check for updates it says there are no updates

does the update install its self

Do I have to "do" anything special? I've not received a notification, and going to the "downloads" section of google marketplace does not list an update...

Froyo does allow apps to be installed onto SD cards.

Click the menu button - settings - About phone - System Software Updates - Check now

Then follow the on screen instructions.

I got the message saying the update was available this morning (T-Mobile), but as I was in a poor 3G area I thought I would wait till I got home and on the WiFi. Just checked it and it seems the update has gone. Looking about, a post from T-Mobile on their forums say they have taken the update down because it was a .de/German Rom that shouldn't of been released to the UK models.

I can't see anything else about the update being pulled or the fact of when the UK one is due again. I guess just debranding it would be the easier choice in the long run for updates.

I checked this, and it says that I am up to date. Phone identity says that the firmware is revision 2.1update1.

Anything else I can try?

edit: Never mind... I see from the post above that it has now been pulled :confused:

As long as the final release isn't full of advertising unwanted bumph then I don't mind waiting...

I updated Saturday and it all looks fine to me, can't see anything to suggest its the German version :confused:

What should I be looking for?

I've got it.

It's cool but they've added a couple of tmobile apps you can't uninstall (some app thing and a voicemail thing).

Plus points for me that I've noticed:
I think the messaging app is now better, i've switch back from handcent now.
720p video
LED torch app
Iplayer, youtube etc with flash in the browser are absolutely perfect - no jitter or anything, I'm well impressed.
install to SD card
seems a few apps are a bit quicker
News app (rss feeds etc) seems good, not sure what's changed but I don't remember using it before and went for alternatives.

Browser also searches google if you type into the url bar, (Was this here before? It mentions it when the bar is blank so I think it might be new, I certainly didn't know about it).

All i can see is that the T-mobile media center app is written in German...thats about it!

i bet there some very miffed tmobile desire owners that missed the update.

I think it was there before but has been improved a lot

I'm glad you can now lock the screen with a pin and flip the screen 3 ways

Everywhere I read mention Mediaencenter and Mobilbox Pro, if they're the only things there's a lot of people overreacting :rolleyes:

I phoned T mobile who put me on to HTC, they told me that the update would be in 2 parts, my software version now shows 2.1 update1 so that is the first part, when the next part is i dont know

sounds a bit suspect - my desire from april was always on 2.1 update1 . when i updated to froyo it was all in one hit.

Mate got the notification the other day but did not update until he backed up, now he tried to update and it says none are available.

I know this is a desire thread, but i just got an update on my wildfire.
Went from 2.1 to 2.1.1 , whatever that does. Its a lot, lot quicker, but nothing else has changed.

Got my wildfire on Saturday and it came with it on. Any ideas when 2.2 is coming out for the wildfire?
