Well the bits in my sig are part of a system I've now sold for a fair price so I've now ordered the below. The plan is to ditch the GFX and CPU when the price drops hit on the GTS and the C2Q. Hopefully this will at least tide me over, and if I can get the 2140 to 3GHz I might even be happy enough to wait until Penryn, DDR3 and the next generation of GFX kick in in time for Crysis etc.

Using the combination of Today Only and free delivery I was able to get what I think is a pretty good deal:

1 x GByte P35C-DS3R Mobo 72.59
1 x 256MB XFX 7600GT 570M 54.99
1 x Corsair TwinX 2GB DDR2 6400 C4 75.99
2 x 320G WD SATA2 HDD WD3200AAKS 87.50
1 x Intel PentiumDCore E2140 1.6GH 44.99
Net Total: £336.06
VAT @ 17.5%: £58.81
Total (including VAT and free delivery): £394.87

Should be fun!

Have you actually hit order yet? You can change the memory for the Giel PC6400 ( see ad top right ) for less.

the E2140 isn't a Pentium

Well, OcUK are branding them as C2Ds, yes. Intel however brand them as Pentiums, so whether you want to believe the manufacturer or the retailer is your call :) All I'll say is that OcUK have a vested interest in calling them C2D.

Regarding the memory I was aware that I could get cheaper PC6400 elsewhere but I wanted to order all my bits from one retailer, and this particular retailer pretty much only sells Corsair. I also read that Corsair isn't even that good anymore in terms of overclocking and the chips they use, but ho-hum! At least I'll have good access to their customer service and hopefully the memory will have enough juice in it to push the chip to 3GHz. I still haven't overclocked a C2D yet so I don't know where to start in terms of dividers and the pros and cons of using them.
