Hey all,
I took a few photos of students at their graduation ceremony at in bath last week, is there any legal implications of using them in my portfolio? Surly there wouldn't be as it was a public place?

Thanks :)

Ooh, what days/schools did you get? As I know quite a few people who had theirs in Bath last week...

So long as you don't try and sell them (the pictures) you don't need permission from the subject as long as they were taken in a public place.

yea hence the pap's being allowed all them celeb pics :)

My understanding is that the rules are slightly different for celebs, as they are considered newsworthy. You can therefore sell images of them without their permission. :)

The law is the same for celebs and the rest.

Overall there are many grey areas in the law as it applies to photography.

What you can photograph is not the same as what you can publish which is different again from what you can sell.

Click HERE for a handy overview. Worth printing out and popping in your camera bag to wave under peoples noses if they get stroppy.
