Is this socialism or Feminism?

IMO this Gender Pay Gap nonsense is very much about Marxist equalisation, equality of outcome as opposed to equality of opportunity.
Woman Chose to work less hours, they chose to work less dangerous jobs that are lower paid, Woman make their own choices and its those choices that are the result of the Gender Pay Gap.

In that video Julia Hartley-Brewer puts these points to the activist and ask what should we do about that.
Of course she never gave an answer, her response to all of these questions as it always is with activists like this was to proclaim neurotic ideology to dress up "because it feels right" in convoluted meaningless language.

I think its about time to call out this crap for what it actually is, Marxism creep.

To me gender pay gap should be done on a like for like basis doing the same role.

As said above a lot of women do certain jobs by choice. So is there really a issue?

if it can be proven women are not given the same opportunities then that is a different issue but to use the current use of gender pay back doesn't explain the entire story

I can understand the point that Women have be discouraged from certain career pathways in the past and the current drive to get more women involved in fields like tech and engineering. But as usual people want results now when in reality it's going to take a number of years till the increased amount of women in that field start filtering through. In the UK though you are never going to get women or men roughly equal (in regards to the wage gap they talk about) till Men have equal parental leave rights. Currently it makes the most sense for the Woman to sacrifice her career thus driving down the average.

but will you really get an equal number of women that are happy to let the husband take care of the kids vs themselves? - i doubt it.
Women are more nurturing than men, that is a scientific fact backed by a significant weight of evidence.

I don't think it will ever be equal but with giving equal leave rights it will be a lot more equal than it is now.

Men do have equal maternity rights don't they?

If you think Women are going to come around to telling their husbands "I'll go back to work, you take care of the kid" in equal measure you're deluded, If their husband is earning and she has a kid she wants to be the one to look after it.

You're not going to change that.

So you wouldn't mind if a women in your firm, doing the same job with the same skills, was paid more than you because she was female?

Is that what you think the gender pay gap is?

Men and Women of the same experience doing the same job the same number of hours are paid the same, we actually already have discrimination laws in place for that.

Men and Women are paid the same for the same work.

You can't actually pay anyone less for the same work, that falls under existing discrimination laws.

Yet its not always enforced/implemented. Wife experiences cases of it in her profession very often. In fact helped a friend out with it just recently which resulted in 3 years backdated pay as her friend was paid less than a male colleague in the same role.

That's what existing laws are for, if you try to fiddle anyone out of pay you should and will be prosecuted for it, anyone is by law entitled to the same pay and its not just Women who are victims of not being paid what they should be, what it is not is some misogynist conspiracy to pay Woman less.

Yet these laws are only enforced if someone makes an actual claim, which is why its still quite widespread and contributes to some of the gap.

Same applies to all groups, Disabled, Minorities, Men.

The idea that Women have some sort of a monopoly on pay gaps due to some conspiracy is convenient to Man haters and Socialists, it is fantasy.

Its clearly not a fantasy, however some of the extreme SJW antics around it are over the top. As always there is a middle ground.
