Talktalk general enquiry of what you think?

had mates with talktalk, nearly all experience slow downs at peak times and generally poor performance. I've been round to mates house enough times to sort out the "rubbish internet" now to write a book...however, on the plus side, they're usually the cheapest

The worst internet provider I've ever been with, it dropped several times a day and between 5pm-11pm the connection would be really slow (< 50kB/s).

with talktalk for nearly 3 years, never had an issue with slowdowns or poor performance, but if you have to call up due to a problem their phone support is a little ****** mind, but their forum support has always been pretty good.

Been with them for the last year, no problems to report. On standard ADSL getting around 7Mb. The speed is consistent and never drops, however their standard download limit is pretty poor and I get charged an extra £5 most months for going over it. I'm moving to Orange next as they offer a £5 discount if you have a mobile phone contract with them (O2 also offer this).

I had Talkshite, sorry TalkTalk last year before I moved back from the sticks. Never ever again. Capped speed from 4ish till around 12 midnite, serious "customer service" issues. Serious bunch of muppets. Glad they got fined the other week. Do yourself a favour and go with anyone else !

just to add that my mates almost all only go with talktalk because they are so cheap and most would jump straight away if they could get as good an offer elsewhere

I get a 2.5-3Mbit connection that's mostly stable thanks to much tweaking and help from the Tt members forum. Which isn't bad, since I'm about eleventy squillion miles from the Burton-on-Trent exchange....

ive been on talk talk for the past year and 3 months, never had issues with them, customer support is not top notch but i get around 10mb during peak and 15mb at night as i live around 300m away from exchange (hooray!), couldnt remember my last time lagging at all...

Talk Talk is the worest company I have ever delt with they lie about what speeds you will get on broadband to get you to join, took them 2 weeks to get phone and internet back up after only being with them 4days and they only repaired it as I said I was leaving them. Internet connection constantly dropped out and the speeds were terrible. Thier cs sucks so much its terrible hate that company with a passion with all the trouble I went through with them AVOID them like the plague. Almost everyone I know has tried them at some stage and they have all left them due to such poor service.

They are cheap, there was a switchers deal wheras if you have had a line installed already all you pay is your line rental which was £13.60 p/m IIRC, gets you internet, and unlimited evening and weekend calls plus 40GB download. Not bad for 13 odd quid.

But then again their customer service is *****.

maybe you need to see exactly what options you do have at your exchange and decide from there. However, if you go for orange, cheap though they may be, you might be disappointed with the service provided...
I can honestly say that you get what you pay for with broadband, although I'm currently with Sky and pretty pleased with £7.50 unlimited broadband a month. in my defence, I have limited options in my exchange...

Internet has been getting worse since they took over my account from Pipex. As I have stated before my net has been down more often in the last month than it had been in the last 6-7 years with Pipex.

Will be moving to BT Infinity asap, which will actually end up being cheaper.
