so, i've decided to watercool my prodigy...any advice/hints/tips welcome at any point too =)

computer's specs are:
i7 3770k @ 4.2ghz with 1.152v
asrock z77e-itx
corsair vengeance lp 8gb 1600mhz ram
amd radeon 7990 stock clocks at 1.150v

the case is pretty small when you have a monster like a 7990 in there

im thinking:
Pump Laing DDC 3.25
Pump Top Alphacool Plexi Top
Res Alphacool DDC R2 Res
CPU Block EK Supremacy Cu/Plexi
GPU Block EK FC 7990 SE Cu/Plexi
Rad Alphacool NexXxoS UT60 240mm
Fans Scythe GT AP-15
Hose Primochill Primoflex Clear 10/13
Fittings Monsoon White 10/13
Coolant Mayhems X1 Clear Premixed
Kill Coil Mayhems Fine Silver Kill Coil
Dampener Shoggy Sandwich

yes i know omgwtf only 240mm rad!?
well i thought before i was gonna buy a new case etc, i'd at least give the rad a go and see what the temps are. it couldnt be as bad as it is now :( 95-98c on the 7990 and 85-90c on the 3770k (with the side off!)

so, i think i prolly bought the last ek 7990 block, and i bought some monsoon fittings to try out,

new ek 7990 se block in all its shiny newness

now the reason why i just bought these parts first was because the panel side of the prodigy is a bit cramped
i cant mount the fittings on the inside of the gpu block as it wont fit with the rad in.
i didnt know just how much space i had...

derp. double derp.

so back to hunting for fittings...
and i think i found the ideal fittings...

1 x Bitspower angle 1/4 inch to female 1/4 inch Deluxe White, 60 degree rotatable £13.94
1 x Bitspower Angle 1/4 inch to female 1/4 inch Deluxe White, 30 degree rotatable £10.99
2 x Bitspower angle 1/4 inch to female 1/4 inch - Deluxe White £7.99 (£15.98)
2 x Bitspower 1/4" Thread 7.5mm Extension Socket Deluxe White £4.49 (£8.98)

waiting for these to get delivered so i can test fit the gpu block again...

ah yea, the koolance rotaries are a good call.
i'll try the bitspower fittings first and see if they'll all fit together first since they're already on their way =x
the bitspower one isnt a rotary so its only 18mm diameter lets see if that works, if not, then i'll get the koolance rotaries

i dont mind even if the temps are ~60c with the watercooling tbh, as long as it is lower (and quieter). would it ruin the pump/other components if the coolant was above >50c?

ok so after a long christmas/new year hiatus, the watercooling bug has bitten again...and thanks to the mining craze, i've managed to watercool for 200 quid, much less than i initially had set out to spend

had a few changes to spec along the way...

got the ek xtx 240 instead of the alphacool ut60

and the ek dcp 2.2 instead of the ddc due to size constraints

also decided to get a set of silverstone short cables. you can see the difference in size compared to the old cables, its really useful in an itx build with limited cable management

work in progress lol.

nearly complete! i took daveip's advise and went for the koolance fittings. worked a charm, but i had 2 monsoon fittings already so i saved the tenner and had mismatched fittings instead...but no probs, no side windows anyway =x

ah yeah. its mostly about the noise though.
the 7990 at 100% fan speed is crazy loud, i don't mind if the temps aren't as low as they should be
on air alone, i was running 95-98c on the gpu and 85-90c on the cpu with the side off

okay, so 24h of leak testing passed...
just did 2h of mining, so gpu only...results weren't too bad 55-58c on gpu cores, guessing water temps would be 45c (ish)

will play some games and see how it fares later
for now, a 40c drop in temps and the quietness is pretty impressive

with a thick rad, there's 12-13cm of height space left for pump/res
that's why i opted for the dcp 2.2 as its small. im guessing if you mount the res separate to the pump you could fit a d5/ddc
and no, the 220mm fan, if its normal width, can still fit up front
