Tattoo people - artist advice

Also, there's a lot to be said for trusting an artist - obviously though you don't know these guys - but with my backpiece (around 9 hours work so far and counting) I came in with some really haggard crappy sketches, explained that I'm not much of an artiste, but if he could just take his cue from my drawings, and use his own style, that'd be cool. He drew me a sketch a few inches across, to give me a idea of the shape he was going for, then I said ok, and we started. He drew up stencils for the swallows, and the star. the rest was was all drawn on freehand, and I ok'd it before he started. It's my favourite tattoo by miles, I love it, and I pretty much gave him free reign within the 'specification' I gave him.

How do tattoos respond to monkeyitis? Got a bit of the old bodyhair on me upper arms...not much but its there...Its gonna look weird as hell with a tattoo and fur growing through it :o

I wonder if i should get laser hair removal or summit? :o
 
cool..thats some big stuff..which one did you get first? was it a smaller piece that you later added to? it did you get the whole arm piece done? Im a bit scared about having a big piece done as my first.

Go for a big piece first. It has a greater impact. Otherwise you will inevitably want the smaller tattoo covering up. :p
(Which is what happened to the original tattoo on my left arm).
But I got each arm done as one piece.

I'm pretty hairy. They show through. Otherwise just wax it off, innit.

For some reason I winced at that, and yet would have no problems being under a tattoo gun. :confused:

My chest, freshly done and shaved again. Also not the smear of blood on the right of the pic. I bleed like a gunshot victim when I'm tattooed, to the amusement of my artist.

My emo-tastic forearm stars. I got a free fringe with these.
 
Mics one was done freehand - originally it was only meant to be a half back piece but as Mic didn't have any plans for the other half, he gave Emma the ok when she asked and it ended up that big :)
