I need to get from Taunton to Bristol on Saturday at around 3pm.

Given the current weather and future weather conditions - what are the chances the trains will be running.

If the trains aren't running, will the roads be safe and dry enough to drive?

(Hoping someone from the area can help)

I am sure OCUK will know better than National Rail on this one re the trains. Definately not worth calling them at all. Ever.

Might be worth checking earlier trains with their live journey planner and see if they are delayed or running on time.

edit: looks like some have been canceled but not all

First Great Western were saying it'll be a "couple of days" before services between Plymouth and Bristol will be back to normal, it's not been too bad today though and it appears to be that there are no disruptions.

As for the roads, all the main roads appear to be fine also - the A361 was flooded at Tiverton on Wednesday apparently but when my girlfriend travelled to Bridgwater she said it was bone dry.

Friends in Bristol have been complaining about the trains a lot.
A friend posted this yesterday from Temple Meads so be prepared for some disruption and you wont be far wrong.

www.twitter.com/fgw will have most up to date info and can answer any questions.

Services between Exeter - Taunton aren't running, there's a replacement bus service.

You should be fine from Taunton onwards, Taunton is whee trains have been cutting off and Exeter where they resume after the bus.

I'm stood in paddington at the moment and there are _no_ trains between Exeter st David's and Taunton.

Overhearing the fgw staff they are suggesting there is line damage that needs to be fixed over the weekend if water subsides enough.

Trains are running between Taunton and Bristol Temple Meads. There are no CrossCountry services between these two stations at present but there are additional First Great Western services as the Devon and Cornwall to London trains are starting from Taunton and are diverted via Bristol Temple Meads.

First Great Western are currently running to Exeter and bussing to Taunton due to flooding between Tiverton Parkway and Exeter at Stoke Canon, as are Cross Country Trains. From up north, Cross Country are terminating at Bristol Temple Meads and bussing to Exeter St Davids, stopping at Taunton and Tiverton Parkway en route. FGW are terminating at Taunton and Bussing to Exeter St Davids via Tiverton Parkway.

This, having just got back from a trip to the north east. roads are fine (we came by train to bristol then drove) so if that is an option, do that rather than the train.
