Taxing a car without v50

So I just bought a car.

I've filled in the V50 (the registration thingy), and previous owner has to send it off.

The car needs to be taxed this month. How do I go about this?

You should have the small, green "New Keeper Supplement" from the V5C (half way down on the right hand side). The old owner should have sent off the larger, left hand side of that form to the DVLA.

You can use this for up to 2 months (i think) to tax a car.

Looking at the DVLA Pricing Table, how do you know what band your car is?

The bands only apply if the car is newer than 2001. The PO will tell you what band it's in when you tax it.

The car is 2002. Just trying to work out how much it's going to cost me...

Your L200 is band F I think, £90 or £165 for 6/12 months.

type your Reg into that link Rilot posted the other day. That will tell you the tax prices for 6/12 months.
