Yep it's that level of brittle. One fell in my sink and shattered as well.
Drop to the floor, even more spectacular shatter.
It's why it's not my go to mug all the time, and why I still sometimes use the ceramic ones.
I've had some since 2016 though, so not like they'll all fail/shatter, if you're careful they're fine.

I'm more triggered by them being on a bottom shelf. Surely mugs should be at head height or so?

Anyway here is mine
That's all I have and I use them basically never as I don't drink tea or coffee. They are there if someone ever does (but then I would also need to buy tea and coffee).

I've now bought a nice mug for coffee, so I have one for tea and one for coffee and just wash them every time. Next step would be to do the same for everyone else, then get rid of a bunch of them - keeping a few for guests or 'emergencies'
Haha we need to do this, we use the same cups and have loads of others, need a clear out !

And yes, they all get used
Some are "every day" / preferred
Some are for "emergency" when the dishwasher is on
Some are for visitors (smaller ones)
Some of the older ones predominantly for workies / when out in the garage or garden
