Hingham-based Team Lotus has bought the small UK sports car manufacturer Caterham in a deal which promises to provide a “launch pad” for new models.

The deal was announced at an event in Duxford this morning by Tony Fernandes, who owns the AirAsia airline and is estimated to be worth £140m, as well as his partners in the Formula One team, Kamarudin Meranun and SM Nasarudin.

...so what do we make of that then?

Sounds good on paper & I want one of these -
To commemorate the purchase Caterham will release a limited edition run of the Seven in Team Lotus colours, with only 25 available.

If you want one, spec up the caterham you want and add £3k. You can have the T128 pack on any model apparently. :D

I was at the media thing today at Duxford and the straight line tests and asked the obvious question of "How much?"

R500 Superlight T128 for me please

It helps that Yellow and Green is up there with Blue and Orange as being one of the best motorsport colour combinations ever. I'm really glad Team Lotus kept the colour and didn't go for Gold and Black.
