A 17-year-old has been charged with murdering Rhys Jones, the 11-year-old boy shot dead as he played football in Liverpool. Four others face related charges over the shooting.

I believe after the age of 14 they are tried in an adult court with adult procedures. However the sentencing is different. I'm not sure at what age the sentence becomes the same as an adult.

He'll go to juvenile prison until he's 18, then onto young offenders until he's 21 and then onto adult prison.
I reckon he'll get a hefty sentence if found guilty.

They have known who it is pretty much since it happened. It is almost common knowledge who did it, the problem was people keeping stum.

Two more have been charged this morning with assisting an offender and a 16 year old boy has been charged with possession of a firearm.

He'd only spend a few years in jail if convicted. For evidence, see the Garry Newlove trial. The two lads, 16,17, given life sentences for murder....serving minimum of 10 and 12 years...which is being appealed to be further reduced, which they'll probably get, so...maybe 8 years for murder or so?

It depends when/if he pleads guilty The quicker he does it the short his custodial sentance will be.

Although killing someone in such a high profile case and living with it for a year wont look good.
