Basically we've just moved into a new house and I live in Hull so the only line we have is a Kingston Communications one. Due to the monopoly they have on this city they are gonna charge us £45 per socket in our house to link the master one to them.

My question is can we do this ourselves and if so how do we wire them up correctly? We have the master socket downstairs then 3 other sockets around the house and I dont wanna pay kingston nearly £200 if its an easy job to do. The wiring is already there, just need pointers!

Thanks in advance, James

Do you not just need a splitter and another telephone cable? Then trunk the cable along skirting boards, etc?

not that simple - the extension plugs are already in place with wiring behind them. The house we moved into is massive so adding new sockets in is out of the question. The wiring is already in place and has been routed throughout the house but we just need to find out which wire goes there on the master socket and the other 3 normal ones

On the master socket, there should be a section which removes and then allows you access to certain terminals. Just remove the plates off the slave sockets and see which colour goes to which pin number and join them into the corresponding number on the master socket. Should be fine  BTW, if you mean that the secondary sockets are not yet connected then they should be using pins 2, 3, 4 and 5- the actual colours don't matter :)

aye to remove the master socket means we have to unscrew 2 parts which have terminals for more cables. From the looks of it we should be able to do it 2moro when we get back in from work with the information ive been gathering in the last 20 mins. Wish us luck (better than spending unnecessary cash ^_^)
