Telephone socket

Hi, just spent 10mins fixing a telephone socket in the lounge, however, I'm not sure if I fixed it properly.

As far as I knew, telephone sockets only have one wire on the inside, however, inside my one there was two, so I just connected both to the socket. Will this cause any problems?

You should have a blue wire going into pin 2, and a white + blue wire going into pin 5.

If there are two lots of wires in there, it's probably an extension being run to another socket.

When i say 1 wire, i mean one set of coloured wires. This had two wires, i.e. two lots of orange n white, 2 white n orange, 2 white n blues, 2 blue n whites etc etc.
