Moving house in the next couple of months and will be getting an LCD, finally moving away from CRT. Also thinking of moving away from Sky and going for a telewest package.
I have noticed blocky pictures with a friend's telewest signal (on a CRT) and was wondering whether this was the norm with telewest and if i will get the same with a larger LCD or even worse.
Would be going for a TV Drive if this makes any difference.

Appreciate your thoughts on this one.

can tell you on Saturday.
Taking my 32" LCD from uni house to home for over Christmas so i'll be able to compare the picture quality to Freeview and compare it from CRT to this LCD :)

Picture quality is pretty good if your using the standard NTL/Blueyonder box. If you decide to dabble with a DBOX2 or Eurovox MaxV3 then picture quality drops. I have heard that the Dreambox's are supposed to be really good though.

Picture quality is better than Sky but it depends on the channel. Some such as BBC 1 and Sky One etc i've found to look better on cable than sky, while some of the lesser known channels are pretty poor on either service.

Has anyone else noticed the difference in quality when watching something you've missed on the teleport replay thing? I think it was either Spooks or Torchwood that I missed a while ago and watched a couple of days later on replay and there was huge amounts of pixelation in the action scenes. I dunno if it was because the service was fairly new or if they are simply being stingy with replays bitrate, either way it didn't look as good as watching it regularly on its normal channel.

As a TV installer I get to see all sorts of TV's connected to Sky, Freeview and Cable.

I have never ever had the BBC channels looking as good on cable as they do on Sky. Loads of MPEG noise all over the picture on cable.
