Tell me about a 407

If your car is dying you probably made a bad choice when you chose it. If you buy a 407 you'll be doing the same thing again.

Iv had my 407 petrol for a couple of months now, i use it for all the short hops and shopping runs.

The care is faultless, get a petrol not a diesel and i think they are a great car for the money.

Mine is a 2.2 2004, 65k full history car 1 company owned, i paid 3k exactly for it.

Nothing wrong with the 407, if you're looking for a big, comfortable, motorway sort of car. I'm amazed at how much car you can get for the money. For example, I've seen a couple of '05' 407 SW for around £4k.

There's a reason for that though and that is they are awful.

Very plastic interior, not that reliable, feel like if you are going to hit something then it will absolutely destroy the car. That was a 2006 model and was a company car for a while (no choice company car I might add). I also had a 307 for a while and I would say the same about them. The only thing with the 407 is it did have a few toys on it.

I wouldn't touch them with a stick.

You sound like a Mini Me version of Fox.

What's a plastic interior got do with anything, given that the segment in which they're sold consists of Mondeos, Vectras, Lagunas and such like. You're buying a used £4k mid price average saloon for the masses, not a Bentley GT. They're really good value on the used market for the amount of car that you get.

As for, "if you are going to hit something then it will absolutely destroy the car", you don't half talk a load of drivel.

To be fair he did only say it felt like it would destroy the car, not that it would.

Anyway, no it dosent feel like a german interior, but its still quite a nice place to be, very airy and light. Certainly no worse than its competitors.

Can't access that PH link due to work filters, but if its a Mk1, its a bit of a grim looking car. Also the so called sporty version of these VAG boxes have a knobbly ride quality which you don't get with PSA saloons which are more comfortable in terms of ride compliance, have softer seats etc.

Good idea, lets suggest somebody who just wants an average cheap saloon a 1.8 Turbo Octavia vRS. I'm sure the additional running costs are well worth it.
could well cost less than a 407 in the long run :p
