Tell me about Alfa 156's

iaind's been smoking the crack pipe. Again.

A 10+ year old 156 is going to need lots of bits of work done on it and at high cost too. It's 100% going to be a disintegrating car. Sure, you can replace all the disintegrating parts but thats going cost you mega £££s. It simply isn't a car that's engineered for longevity.

Not a car to buy if you're not prepared to shell out £££s in maintenance and parts.

You seem to have a lot of experience, how many have you owned?

He's got a lot of experience in everything.

He also likes to misquote, removing the important parts of what I said. The point was pretty clear that the problems are going to be small and often, rather than big problems that leave you in a cloud of smoke at the side of the road

Hopefully I won't have my 147 in 2 years when it 'disintegtrates' :p

I've had my 156 2.5 v6 for a year now, when I got mine I gave it a full service, cambelt, maf etc. I bought it cheap and did all the maintenance myself. The only fault I've had was the fuel gauge was a bit iffy and that was fixed by cleaning the contacts.

MAF problems tend to be caused by aftermarket air filters or dirty/poorly fitted original ones.
