Hi guys, there is a Daihatsu Sirion Rally 2 for sale near me for a very reasonable price. Basically I'm wanting to know your/owners opinions and if there are any major reliability problems with the rally 2 model particularly ones with a bit of mileage.

Car in question is a march 03 plate with 70k on the clock full service history for £2k which makes it a bit of a steal.

Is it cambelt or chain driven? when should it have been changed?

Can't remember belt or chain, but if it's belt it'll be around 60k.

Interior trim is cheap and things will rattle, seats not great for long journeys and limited adjustment, refinement = LOL, earthing in engine bay corrodes after 2 years, batteries are weak & dead after 3 years, exhaust systems corrode after 3 years.

Now onto the good things -

They do not break down
Engines and gearboxes are absolutely bullet proof
Low torque & High RPM = FUN
Brakes and suspension feel good
Steering feels good
Beating regular 2.0 engined cars in a 1.3 is hilarious

Cheers for that, doesn't sound too bad, anyone know if it's a belt or chain driven?

Just to update, the 1.3 engined sirions are chain driven, the 1.0 litres are cambelt.

Going to view and test drive the car tommorrow so I'll update the thread if I buy it.
