To die by your side......
When they finally get round to starting their bank, they will be untouchable, to quote the BBC "they have the reputation other banks would kill for".

Just read they are spending their most money in China, where some outlets even sell/rent flats.

So how long until everything you could ever want or need is sold by Tesco, and what if there is no other wholesaler? Does the idea of only having one passage of which to buy everything worry you, or excite you?

Personally i like Tesco, and can't wait to see what saving accounts and current accounts they will be competitively marketing. Tesco imo have a better world domination than Google, as Tesco is irl.

Many (as in, some) governments wouldn't allow it. Monopoly etc.

Tesco are also not as friendly as you might think.. they are notorious for bullying farmers et al into ridiculously low income.

Wal Mart > Tesco's
Wal Mart is the largest corporation in the world, i cant see tesco's beating them any time soon outside of the UK ;)

I don't mind Tesco, they are cheap, easy to get to, clean (compared to the shabby ASDA or the other cheap ones) supermarkets. A couple of years ago they bought out some of the smaller local independents, so our One Stop (which changed companies a few times) is now a Tesco Express. Much better produce, far cheaper, less of the childrens crap which also means less of them hanging around outside.

There will always be choice - i.e. butchers to get meat from, other banks, electrical stores etc.

Asda for me.

I'd hate 1 shop to sell everything. Some of the best shops I've been in were smaller specialist shops where you get to chat to someone with an ounce of knowledge.

Our local Budgens changed into a Tesco Express recently and the fresh food is 100 times better. I guess there is a good balance somewhere but for the consumer having a local Tesco has many benefits. This cold snap all the local people have still managed to get fresh veg/meat/bread that other smaller outlets probably wouldn't have been able to provide in this area. I know a lot of old people extremely happy that Tesco have arrived here in the last year because of that.

Shame green grocers have died out so I would never have to use a supermarket again. We certainly don't buy their meat anyway.

Tesco have an awful reputation, not just with farmers but with most people. bullying other shops, purchasing, even locals in some areas hate tesco.

There will always be choice, however I agree tesco express is a godsend so so cheap compared to little spars/co-op. Just a shame siansburys/morrisons/asda haven't jumped on teh bandwagon.

Plenty around me and farm shops all sell veg.

I have to shop at Tesco since its the only thing close to here but I prefer ASDA by miles.
Tesco already has a bad reputation for dominating towns making other shops go bust. Around here they already have most of the costumers but they still plan to extend it into a super one with clothes etc, and this is a town with a small shopping street only.

But like mentioned before Walmart is way bigger so if it where to happen it would be with a Walmart chain, not Tesco :p

Meh my job is safe then. Personally it wouldn't bother me at all if sometime along the line they did sell everything, I would still have the choice to buy things where I wanted. Much like I do now as you won't find me buying things in Tesco apart from DVD's and such because of my staff discount. Anything else and its Morrisons for me.

Utter rubbish, Tesco give people the choice to buy things cheaper. Nobody forces people to stop shopping at local butchers etc and buy things cheaper elsewhere.
