You're 99.9% set on buying bike A.

Acceptable to take bike 'B' on a test ride, really, secretly just for the fun of it - there's 0.01% chance of you buying it whatever it's like?

If you're at a dealers with your mind set on bike A, but they also have bike B available (and bike C for that matter) then I don't think it's unacceptable to try bike B and C just to ensure that you're making the right decision. If you didn't then you'd never know that bike A really was the right choice.

It's different if you're just going to random dealers and riding bikes for the fun of it I guess.

I think I ****ed off my local BMW dealership the other day when I test rode an R1200 RT, and after I finished, I said I loved it, and I'd be very likely get one, just not from them, from Park Lane dealership in London.. He didn't seem best pleased lol.

My view is it would be acceptable providing you were going to buy a new bike from the dealer where you are test riding. If you aren't going to buy from them, it's unfair to waste their time, as time is money.
