The 13-year-old CEO who invented a cure for hiccups

Well, do they actually work? Have they done extensive testing?

Even if it works, I really can't see it viable. Just imagine:

Get Hiccups...
Goes to town to get one of these lollipop.

Here is the snag, for me, hiccups last minutes, not days. By the time I get into the car it would've been gone.

This is not a product that solves one of life's simplest problems, this is a product that solves a problem which was never really a problem to begin with.

That's exactly what I was thinking. But then hiccups are more common in younger children. I remember suffering them a lot when I was a child.
I know sometimes they'd last a while it start to annoy mum and dad. I'm sure they'd love to have had a couple of these in the house or car for when I started and couldn't stop.

There is a cure for hiccups, I've been using it for years and it is medically sound.
I have used it twice this week and the people stopped.

Close both your ears off with your thumbs.
At the same time close your nostrils with whatever fingers you which to use.
Get somebody to place a glass of water in front of your mouth and slowly sip from it.
If it doesn't work the first time try again.
I have honestly never seen this method fail and I got it off some medical TV program many years ago.

I found that a glass of water cures my hiccups but if I see someone I know with hiccups then I sneak up on them and then scare them.

That solves their hiccups but solving the problem of said person chasing me angrily is another matter!

this is the best cure neverr failed yet

hold breathe for as long as possible as you go to exhale you breathe as fast as you can for 30 secs then as you reach the 30 sec mark hold breathe again as long as possible

then exhale and your hiccups will be gone ;)

never failed once

Why the hell would i buy a lollipop to cure something like this?

I think ill go with the tried and true method of just waiting until my hiccups just disappear after a few moments, it would really take a moron to buy these (no short supply i imagine).

There are cases/incidents of hiccups lasting days, weeks, months and years.
Sounds like a decent product and a decent way to make money to me.

hiccups from my anecdotal experience are a psychological thing - you just need to take your mind off the hiccups long enough for the chain of hiccuping to be interrupted.

A sour lolly might work but I've seen people stop hiccuping just by the anxiety of what somebody was about to do them to cure the hiccups.

Care to elaborate? :D

Quite simply a girl had hiccups, guy said he could cure it. He put his hands either side of her head (not touching) and said close your eyes.

After a little while she asked what he was going to do, and he answered nothing, the hiccups are gone. And they were.

Either it's magic or you just need something else to worry about for 30 seconds until they stop.

I think most remedies work the same, drinking a pint of water as fast as I can works every time for me, but I think that's just because I'm busy drinking a pint of water when the next hiccup should arrive so I break the chain.

Interesting, sounds like a good pickup line ;)

Good that it works.

...a spoonfull of hendersons relish cures hiccups instantly...so this is a pintless invention :p

A spoonfull of malt vinegar does the same. i'm guessing there is a vinegar component in Hendersons relish as well. She hasn't invented anything really, just put vinegar in a lolly.

I have known about this for years, but whenever I tell someone they don't believe me. Or they would rather have hiccups than down a spoon of vinegar :D. I actually like the tase though, but i'd imagine hendersons relish tastes better. I will try that next time.

I find 2 methods help me:

1) Fill your lungs, hold the breath then swallow 3 times. It should be difficult to swallow.

2) Drinking a yazoo though a straw, any drink will work. Just keep sucking the drink through and hiccups will be gone.
