*** The 2010 Gym Rats Thread ***

dude just buy any protein powder from a decent supplier, all these people saying get your diet into shape, although it is a good idea, adding a shake into your diet isn't exactly going to do you any harm, it can only benefit you.

then as you do more reading about nutrition and add to your knowledge you can refine your diet to help you as well.

real protein is better than powdered protein but sometimes you need that powdered protein too when you cant be bothered cooking or short of time, etc.

No no no no. Seriously, no.

Diet is more important, protein shakes are a waste of money until your diet is sorted.

Sure it won't do you any harm, but it's a waste of time, and you'll be ****ing money down the drain. It WONT benefit him unless he's training properly and more importantly eating properly.

Get the diet as right as possible first, THEN refine it. It takes YEARS of tweaking and practice to get it right and years of dedication to have an effect.

You should never "not be bothered" - if you have that attitude then this game isn't for you.

bloody hell thats a lot of weight. well done

Cheers - only ever managed one sketchy rep before - I'm back in the swing of things now, and managed a couple of sets of 3 reps nice and deep (to just below parallel).

Just need to get that 250kg deadlift in, and then crank the weight up on the squat and I'll break 600kg.

A lot of people's interpretation of a military press changes... I've heard people talk about them standing up, sat down, with back rests, with DBs, BBs, with legs apart, together, with a push press movement etc... So I pay little attention to the term "military" press these days.

I just call it shoulder press and state whether or not I'm standing sat, with or without DBs or a backrest.

FWIW I can DB press with shoulder rest over 40kg dumbells, so that 80kg combined. Standing I can pushpress 110kg. However it's largely irrelevant. I have particularly weak shoulders owing to an injury which is why I don't go particularly heavy. :(

Ok, fair doo's.

EDIT: How did you get the injury btw? You can still lift allot to say you were injured.

Oh yeah I've heard people call it shoulder press aswell. I think my rotator cuff in my left shoulder feels wierd sometimes like kinda unnatural, doesn't hurt or anything, just feels wierd, I can feel it when I do some shoulder exercises and also incline bench aswell sometimes, kinda hard to explain, was kinda thinking maybe I need to do some kind of exercise to make it stronger.

Dislocation of my shoulder playing rugby.

RC exercises are vital.

Fnirrrrrr. Gyms second weight room is closed for refurbishment, so the one thats open is twice as full. Had to improvise and use the machines/cables until I got a bench just before closing and squeezed in my incline DB. And to top it all off my weight loss has absolutely stalled @ ~110kg. Consuming 1800cals a day, 140g ish protein, 170 carbs and about 60g fats.

What do?

Increase the intensity in the gym. And throw in some HIIT. You're possibly getting to a stage where your ability and fitness are starting to meet.

Freefaller, is it wrong I got very excited about seeing you back online? Am I gay? :(

And yes, definitely need a new thread

Aw thanks dude. :) I do miss this place.

However, being home was too good to be online here I'm afraid. :o

I'm back now - so it's all good! :D

Bring some back! of both :D

Sounds like a plan.

I'll create a new thread in Jan.

As for the girls, was struck down by the most beautiful woman I have ever laid my eyes on... chatting to her as we speak - but damn it's going to be expensive if anything comes of it! :( :o
