I was wondering, would you guys be able to advise on some good weight exercises to do to help boost my overall weight loss. I am happy with the cardio I am doing, but I know that building muscle can be important for losing weight, as the more muscle, the more calories are burnt. So basically, I need something to go along with my cardio routine :)

I weigh 79 kilos, and want to drop to 65 kilos. I have very strong leg muscles (former swimmer) but I slightly weaker back and shoulders which need strengthening. Would weight machines be better to begin with so I don't injure myself as easily? And advice would be ace :) Thanks

At that weight im guessing you are female?

Anyway, some exercises for you:
Squats
Pullups/chins
Power clean and push press
Dumbells bench press/ dips

That should cover the majority of muscle groups :)

shoulder pressing you shouldn't need a spotter. Just make sure where you are lifting is clear and drop the weight if you need. Hell I wouldn't want to spot someone doing shoulder press for a max, dangerous :P

Bench - only ask people you know can spot properly. By that I mean not do anything silly mid rep, not shout crap at you during the rep and also be aware of when you reach a sticking point.

Does your gym have a power rack / cage?

By using a non-oly bar

not everyone can bench massively, so an oly bar wouldnt be required

You don't need to bench massively, but you do need accessible weight.
I guess it depends on what machines the place has and what type of weights it uses.
I've not been to many gyms where there is an abundance of 1" standard weight plates tbh.

Thats at your home, where your equipment is tailored to you :P

I'm talking about a gym where the place only has 1 oly bar but has a cage, I'm thinking that should it have any plate loaded equipement then it would be oly plates that they use, meaning limited amount of non oly plates to use on the non oly bar.
Afterall, most non oly bars arent rated to well for weight they can lift :)

A lot of the flavoured waters are full of sugar. Far from healthy at all. Though it is still low calorie given the total amount of kcals in it, especially compared to a full fat bottle of coke for example.
It's crap labelling and the allowance is a joke.

Just like 'low fat' foods, low in fat by high in crap carbs.

hungry! want food! gonna do a back/legs and shoulder workout tonight. no messing with fancy exercises, just simple ones for quite a few sets

squats - 5x10
powercleans - 5x10
push press - 5x10
lat pull/seated row superset - 3x10
calf raises - feel the burn then hold it for longer

I don't carry much in there:

Weight Gloves
