So today I bought some new books to read on my flight between Perth and Sydney, and was recommeded a short book by my father. Now I dont normally have the same taste in books as him but he insisted I read this book called The Alchemist. I had bought two other books, Digital Fortress, and The Bible Code II, but my father insisted I read the alchemist.

Reluctantly I opened up the book in the departure lounge, four hours later and I feel my life has been changed forever. Read the book back to front in four hours and wanted to read it again! The english is not the best I feel as it has been translated from another language, but the whole story is amazing. It made me realise important things in my life, and put everything into perspective for me!

Who else has read the book? Opinions? Points to think about in it?

Roughly...

Boy embarks on a quest to find his own treasure (basically finding his personal meaning to life) and its about people he meets and the lessons he learns along the way, and the difficulties everyone faces when trying to achieve what they desire the most.

I will check it out, I am in the market for a new book and Friday is my book purchase day. :)

You will read it in a day! So maybe pick up two! Its only 200 odd pages long! But I don't know anyone who has read it and hasnt enjoyed it... Its quite a spiritual book!

it was republished about 2 years ago.

Waterstones ought to have it therefore.

<edit> yes, i agree with you, it is a masterfully written book. </edit>

I am intrigued to find out if it changed your thoughts on anything? It certainly made me re-think some of my views on life!

Definately give it a read, its 7.99 if i remember correctly. No excuse for anyone not to read it. Thinking about it now, its subject matter is all typical of life!
