*** The all new Apple iPad thread - Keep all iPad stuff in here ***

ooohhhh, had play with one of these yesterday. A colleague at work bought one over the weekend. Initially I didn't see the point of one (if you already had a laptop and smartphone), but I totally get it now. Fantastic little device.

Bah still not got my camera connection kit and really want it in time for my holiday, had to cancel order as well incase I needed the money for something else.

So how does one go about putting PDF's on the iPad and reading them? is there a way?

Theres loads of readers out there, Goodreader being my favourite at the moment, it also circumvents having to import stuff via itunes which can be handy at times for certain files :)

If I call 3 to activate my sim do I have to start a plan there and then or will they just do the credit check and activate it? I don't actually need 3g access till I'm out and about next week so would like to start it then.

Fraid it doesn't work like that, when you call up the plan is set up and first payment taken...

Takes about 3 hours (mind however took 1) and you're up and running ;)

Depends on what the PDF contains.

Goodreader is handy if you just want to view the PDF, but if you have a book in PDF format then you're better off converting them to ePub and putting them to the iBook app using a converter tool like Calibre.

How I love Apple for letting epubs be read on the iPad.

Still cant get Calibre to convert my PDF properly :( I can stick it online somewhere if someone fancies a go? Its only 15mb I think but paid for eBook so I'd have to email someone a link, not posting it on here!

Was in town earlier and went to the world of pc shop.

Had 4 ipads on display. Had a fiddle with it for 10minutes and it was great. Typing felt rather easy landscape and portrait. No way near as quick as I am now on my iPod touch but would get quicker.
Browsing would feel great - went onto a few websites - wow

I had just enough money in my bank for the 16gb wifi model.
But going to £5 in my bank I couldn't justify it and the yelling from parents if I bought it :(.

Was a little bit heavier then I thought it would be. But i got used to it's weight quickly
