*** The all new Apple iPad thread - Keep all iPad stuff in here ***

Can someone help me please.

Got my 3G micro-sim today and promptly rang up to get it activated which was done successfully.

Then inserted sim into ipad and ran itunes and it checked settings for carrier and then synced fine.

But I still got no internet???

It takes up to 24 hours for the sim to register.
What I would do is turn off the iPad for an hour or so and turn it back on again and see if it works.

(Presumably when you say you have no internet when you use the 3G and not WiFi?)

Does anyone think the iPad will replace their laptop?

I just got a new Macbook Pro in December but am tempted to sell it to get an iPad. All I need is internet, email, videos really but I'd use it for work. Is it practical? How would you compare productivity mainly with regards to emails. Will it be a pain to do loads of emails?

I do have an old Macbook for an emergency.

My biggest fear was with the keyboard but it's been excellent, dare i say it, i type better on this than a keyboard!

I sold my mbp upon hearing this, a laptop was too much of what i needed it to do, but i was fully aware their was a he'll of a lot of productivity that wasn't gonna happen on this, but so far im very very happy.

Im not sure how practical this will be for things like word processing etc compared to a laptop. I think the level of sophistication in the software is not as much as say found in your Microsoft Offices of the world etc.

(But I am willing to be correct on this if anyone who has used Pages or Numbers for example?)

I have pages but not used it yet but then again, one would be dreaming to expect it matching MS Office.

kinda wish I never bought the keyboard-dock now, considering how much I use it and I wouldnt really take it anywhere away from my desk, a stand would have been a much wiser investment :(

See thats exactly why I didnt buy the keyboard dock.

I NEARLY did though! But then thought to myself. Hang on, this thing is going to be on the move most of the time. And if I am sat at my desk, I would probably be using my PC.

And tbh, Im glad I didnt buy the basic dock since it doesnt seem to charge over USB for me, and I can just prop it up against books on my desk for syncing purposes.

Send it back to Apple since its within 14 days I think?

You ordered a mac with comes with the wireless keyboard so there was no reason at all for you to get it. The dock would make much more sense.
