*** The all new Apple iPad thread - Keep all iPad stuff in here ***

My screen protector and Speck iPad candyshell case arrived. Disappointment though, as soon as I took the case out of the plastic box, had scratches all over the back as if its already been used, slid across the floor or something.

No big deal, just a pain to get it sent back and what not.

Applying the screen protector wasn't a barrel of laughs either. Mess it up first time and it gets harder and harder to get it on perfect with no air bubbles or lint/dust getting in between.

Although think I've done passable job, until I get it done by some pros next time I'm in the far east. Managed no air bubbles on the screen, a few round the edges though.

Best get back to work.:D

EDIT: Just got a reply from the place where I bought it from.

"This often happens to glossy products when they rub against the product packaging in transit. We have now sold out of this very popular product, so would be unable to offer a replacement for around 2 weeks. However it is quite likely that the same will have happened to all of these cases if the packaging is not changed."

What do you reckon fellas, I'm pretty tired now the concentration to put that protector on and feel like, meh..

It seems to be when I've locked it then I unlock and try to use Safari. It will work for a minute or so then it will drop and I have to go into settings to reconnect.

WiFi issues seem to be relatively common place and the only real niggle I have - other than lack of Flash!
Happens generally to me whilst browsing. I get 'connecting' across the screen for a few seconds and then it carries on. Other times it just looses connectivity although the wireless icon is showing. I then have to disable and enable the wireless.

Is supposed to be related to dual band routers, and although mine is G and N it is not dual band 2.4Ghz/5Ghz.
I have found though that setting to N only helped, but unfortunately I have two non N laptops in the house....

If it happens from initial switch on some suggestions were that setting the screen brightness higher than minimum resolved the issue.

It looks to me like the wifi disconnection "bug" could be a battery saving thing. When I am using the iPad it never disconnects unless I'm not using the wifi side of it. If the iPad is sat on it's stand whilst I'm doing something else it seems to need to reconnect, but does it very quickly.

To be honest, it's not really an issue for me as it never disconnects when I'm actually using the wifi connection, just when it seems to have been idle for a while though I'd rather I was in control and could set it to do this OR to stay on permanently if I wanted to.

So if your wifi turns off in standby does that mean you will not receive emails or push notifications?

Or in standby will it use 3G connection (assuming you have 3G which is even worse as then you will be using your 3G data plan when you dont need to!).

Either way its not good.

I gave up trying to put the screen protector that came with the switcheasy ipad nude case on. total nightmare just raged and shoved it in the bin.

Obviously if the wifi "sleeps" then I won't be receiving push notifications etc. but until Apple does whatever it's going to do to rectify this issue I am not going to worry about it. Push notifications are a strange thing when you're used to an Android phone that multitasks. OS 4 is something I'm really looking forward to (will possibly get an iPhone 4G when it comes out).

Saying that though I did get a push notification the other night whilst asleep so turned them off. Maybe the issue is somewhat more random than I thought. Still not going to lose sleep over it now I've turned them off ;)
