I thought that but having a uncompromising dislike of Norton, I decided to ignore it.

+1. The last version I owned (several years ago) decided at one point to make an active window every 30 seconds requiring a critical update to be downloaded and installed. There was no ignore option - that's the sort of behaviour I'd associate with a virus, so I binned it forever.

I ve changed from kerpersky to free solution

comodo, with anti virus

malwarebytes if it starts acting up (free)

I m not sure what else to put with comodo, the defense + seens to have inproved since I used it a year ago, see how gaming goes as it liked crashing the PC.

Norton does work, but its like OSX in my option it like cradles you and don't let you touch anything...i do not like that.

MSE has issues with large volume folders and high CPU/DiskIO, it always has and always will by the looks of it.

I even have video evidence which has been posted many times.

And I'm on a 3.2GHz quad...

Definitely. I have a folder with around 30 installation files inside and with MSE installed the icons take forever to load with 100% CPU on a 2Ghz Core Duo.

It's just crazy and means I'll never use MSE until it's sorted. I'm holding out some hope on 2.0 but for now Avast is plenty good enough.

best AV program,

AVG always used to be fine, however a lot of the time its letting the fake AV programs get into the system..

Kaspersky always used to be considered one of the best however it used to slow down machines much more than AVG...

if the latest version of Kaspersky still slow things down a lot?

is there anything better on the market?

thanks for any suggestions...
