The Almighty Dual socket EVGA board is back! This time as the SR-X!!

Only 1 Hydro H100 Cooler, won't you be needing 2? ;)

Obsidian case comes with one, plus 1200w psu :)

1600 for one cpu? wow... Just goes to show much money you would actually need to take FULL advantage of such a board

No idea if quad 690s would run but I imagine if you were buying the board you would probably stick in Teslas? Not sure..

See I wasn't sure myself as I don't know of any games that require two high end cpus... and that many pcie slots... maybe this is aimed at the ULTRA high end gaming market :D

You can't do 4 690s it would have to be 680s so that is already cheaper :) Should be slightly cheaper if you stick quad memory instead of dual chan memory too. Still around 8-9k inc vat.

Guys

this is actually a little more affordable than the previous SR-2

you can get dual QPI Xeons that operate in this board for very reasonable money [well, in xeon terms anyway]

E5-2620 is a great chip and works well. obviously a standard X79 board would be overkill for most but for a workstation platform offering ultimate stability, this is a good call.

obviously there are other dual socket boards and overclocking isn't a big deal on this as the chips are locked down but I would imagine something would be coming in the near future that would allow this board to overclock them.

and an HTPX motherboard doest fit in an 800D ;)

What is the reason for releasing such a monster without the ability to overclock? Who would ASUS see as it's primary customer base for this product?
