The AMD Driver Thread

It now works, thank you Matt. I am having another issue though.

On Part 2 of the DX12 test it gets to the end then my PC completely freezes. Have to force restart my PC. Tried multiple times and it freezes in the exact same spot.

Glad to hear it Ben. :)

Does it occur with everything (cpu, memory and gpu's) at stock clocks? Head into the bios, F5 reset to optimised defaults, save and retest please.

Maybe disable afterburner if you have it running as well.

Still doing it with Trixx disabled.

CCC seems to be crashing too, this is in event viewer:

Does the 15.3 BETA driver work with DX12 on Windows 10?

With your system at stock clocks?

We've not been seeing many similar reports though, and i noticed you said Sniper Elite V3 was crashing too previously upon loading up. Just wondering if something on your system could be causing the crashing of this, Sniper Elite V3 and CCC?

I'll inform our team anyway and see if we get the same problem, thanks.

So Matt do we have ETAish on April's drivers....*btw I find it extremely ironic people bitching about AMD driver release. When they were on an one month release; people bitched about drivers being incomplete; so when they slowed down to release more complete driver sets; people bitch they aren't getting drivers released more*

Should they release more betas yea....

We can't win either way. :p

Good news though, we're seeing new record lows of bug reports with 14.12/15.3 drivers.

No set date for the April drivers. When they're ready. :)

As I've said hundreds of times, drivers will be once a month like they've always been, or thereabouts.

@MATT - Can you do me a favour matey, ever since I've had the 295x2 and 290x, MANTLE in BF4 is up the swanny... low fps... I've always used Mantle since my 7990's and it was always considerably quicker than DX11... perfect infact. However now I can barely run... if I disable Crossfire and run the single 295x2 it's horrid performance and enabling the 290x only makes it worse... yet DX is spot on. What's happened with Mantle lately? Are you getting this on your system? This was with 14.12 and the new 15.3's as well... Mantle now is running like poo.

This is at 5670x1080 ULTRA and 4xMSSA... I'm in DX11 and it's around 65-110fps... in Mantle it's topping out around 60fps and drops into 30's... and this si a fresh rebuild of machine as well.

Have you got any overlays running, like the origin overlay, the AMD Gaming Evolved overlay (Raptr APP) etc? If so try disabling them. Mantle works perfectly on 1>2>3 gpu for me.

Matt, please do get them looking at displayport link failures with displayport 1.2

Currently using one of the philips 40 inchers, and it's getting a bit annoying.

Currently a DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable, but no adapter.

Have same issue with DisplayPort to DisplayPort.

Tried many different cables. Some worse than others. But all do it.

Thanks and noted. That's one bug we're trying to squash at the moment.

Any particular steps you can take to reproduce it at will or is it random?

Evening All, Just installed newest driver, dissapointed to say the least. Far Cry4 is a bit of a car crash with xfire, 2 r9 290s at 4k. frames drop to 30 but If I move my view up very slightly it hits just over 60. Obviously running around is a stuttering mess, I had it running better using AFR with the older omega driver.
Gpu usage goes down to 50% each 0r 80-20 then both shoot up to 100%.
Has anyone got any ideas or should I just roll back the driver, Thanks.

Use Vsync and triple buffering to increase the the smoothness. Disable all GameWorks features.

Our next driver should have an improved Farcry4 profile.

AMD Matt can you see about getting more frequent driver releases.
even if there is a driver out every week that would make people more happier at there purchases.

even if there small fixes here and there at least we are getting fixes faster and people get fixes for games faster instead of waiting months and months for releases.

i wouldnt mind and i know a lot of people that feel the same, we should get something like a OMEGA version every 2 months and normal beta`s every week, it just makes sence that way people get fixes and also people appreciate the hardware they bought.....

Drivers will be once a month like they've always been, or thereabouts.

This 30hz issue you speak of I experienced with the Samsung S27D85K on CrossFireX 290X .... I used a generic displayport cable, It nearly put me off purchasing a 1440P 144hz screen.... I used the bundled BenQ DP cable and everything works as intended!!! I had just assumed the 1440p resolution was extremely taxing on the videocards but this wasn't the case!

I just also wanted to write here that I am extremely satisfied with the 15.3 driver, my 2x Sapphire 290X Tri-X OC's are now performing flawlessly, I'm currently toggling between 1 and 2 cards crossfire on/off for games that I want to use FreeSync with and others I want maximum FPS etc and it all works flawlessly!! stable as a table! I use sapphire Trixx for overclocking and disabling ULPS ... I also remove old drivers with DDU .... if anyone is wondering about a 290X vid card or 290X crossfire I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! good stuff...

/end rant.

Glad to hear it. :)

Today I've learned that the competitor doesn't only have beta drivers but also on the fly hot fix drivers to instantly fix problems.

Do I get such support from AMD without waiting 3 months for a next official or beta release?

Hotfix Drivers

14.12 Omega Hotfix Driver

When connecting some TVs to AMD Radeon graphics through HDMI connector, users may see small black border around the image on the TV, then user can use HDMI scaling slider on Catalyst Control Center to adjust the image.

This AMD Catalyst HDMI Hotfix driver does not downscale the image, therefore, on most HDMI displays image will be displayed in proper size.

That was our last hotfix driver, so yes we release them if needed.

Just a reminder.

Drivers will be once a month like they've always been, or thereabouts.

Next driver due in April, exact date TBD. When it's ready.

Matt, how is It looking for elite and crossfire?

I've requested it.

Was going to change my sig tonight.... Think I will wait a bit :)

I'd recommend keeping it, because i think I'll be repeating it a lot here.

@Matt,

(And anyone else that can test it out 290X CrossFire to rule out my end)

1. AC Black Flag:beta-constant flickering and sync issue whether single or mgpu, unplayable:(, was fine on Omega.
2. Evolve:beta-when your initial round finishes loading in-CTD on CrossFire, single card works.

Everything else, working good.:D

Any update if METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES is getting mgpu support added?

Thanks Tommy, can you drop me more info along with a DXDIAG report in a trust message.

I've requested that as well, as i do with all Crossfire profile requests.

Update on an issue I was having running 2 monitors on a 290X. Monitors in question being a 1440p 60Hz and a 1080p 120Hz monitor. The problem being the 1440p monitor would not detect when used in conjunction with the 1080p monitor. After some head scratching, the work around is to not install an update that Windows brings down for the 1440p monitor. Seems the Windows driver update for the 1440p monitor is conflicting with the AMD drivers some how.

Thanks for the update Gee.

May help others if they stumble on this problem. Any Windows updates that come down for monitors I suggest "do not" install them. Turns out once they are installed they also can't be removed. The only way round it is a fresh install.

This is how i uninstall the Windows Update DGM monitor driver on my second rig.

Did exactly the same and it didn't remove it. It just embeds itself deep in the registry somewhere. The best thing to do is not install any Windows Monitor update to avoid any future conflicts when running multi monitors.

Do you have auto updates turned on? Because if you do it will auto install on next boot. I had to hide the update to stop Windows from Auto Installing it.
