The AMD Driver Thread

Matt, I feel a bit guilty after posting my last post to be honest, as I'm extremely impressed that a game that looks this good runs so well on my machine. You guys have done an outstanding job on the drivers.
I was convinced I'd need another graphics card in order to get anywhere near 60FPS with max/very high settings, so convinced in fact I bought another GPU.
I can't wait for the weekend when I'm going to be installing my 2nd card and see if I can add some of the Advanced Graphics settings into the mix (if I've got enough VRAM of course :p
Keep up the superb work Matt :)

No need to feel guilty, the strive for perfection is never complete as far as drivers are concerned. However i think we can agree we've taken a small step towards it. :)

Having more issues with the driver.

Been playing GTA V over the past couple of days and I've just noticed now that it keeps downclocking my card as if they are thermal throttling, which they aren't. The temps have been nudging 50C which is obviously a country mile under the throttle.

I'm tracking this issue, as i saw Gerard mention it with his 295x2. Is this whilst you play the game, or does it just occur during the benchmark sequence?

I only ran the benchmark when I first loaded the game up and haven't used it since.

It may be a while before I can report back. The game isn't even loading for me anymore...

Try disabling any overlays you have running before you launch the game. I found Afterburner causing issues early doors. Verify steam files. That's all I've got I'm afraid.

Clock speeds appear to be fine. It's definitely done it once but the other times may have been me not noticing them having changed in AB, so every time I started CCC they had reset to the slower speeds because of AB.

I noticed a bug whereby if you change Vsync settings while the game is running it causes the clock speeds to fluctuate. However if you restart the game, all works perfectly.

Is that you manning the new AMDCare twitter, Matt?

Yes, I've got my finger in a few different pie's at the moment Benny. :)

@Matt - Just as a note Matt, the weird surface issue has gone so acts like it does on a single card. However there is ZERO scaling at all in this game as in not even a single fps... I'm surprised at that... ALSO... when getting attackeded and grabbed by a zombie (when you have to hit "E" as fast as you can) now in CF it stops to 1fps with all sorts of weirdness happening... all in, not the best update tbh... looks like by fixing the texture flicker we've not got a mad step down in fps on certain scenes...

Okay, well that's good to hear that the surface issue has gone.

I'll let our team know that the performance is not where it should be, thanks Pug.

Matt, I have a question, which I think's already been answered if I'm honest, but if I turn MSAA 'On' (no matter whether it's 2x, 4x or 8x) it causes some on screen glitching/corruption, as in some sort of snowy square blocks appear in the bottom right corner of the screen (obviously this isn't meant to be there), so I simply run with MSAA off.
I know you'll be working on trying to fix this but is this something that many others have reported, and is there a reason for this (running out of VRAM etc, as I'm aware my 7970 is only a 3gb card, but GTAV reports it's using under 3gb anyway.

Can i just confirm, are you using DirectX 11?

Can you share a screenshot of the exact settings you're using please? I think you'll need 3-4 screens to cover all the settings, including display, graphics and advanced graphics.

Thanks Bucho. :)

Matt, could you have a look at the video I posted on the previous page and confirm whether it's a game, driver, or hardware issue?

I've watched the video and it does look like a memory corruption issue. I would recommend trying to roll back to our previous Beta, 15.3, to see if this resolves the issue.

If it still occurs then i would look to start testing each gpu individually in this game, to see if one particular gpu is the culprit.

Matt, I'm still having issues with the corruption in the bottom right-hand corner. The problems in the video have disappeared. Also seen another person in the official GTA thread with the same issue.

Does disabling AA (normal and reflective) solve the issue?

MSAA appears to be the culprit. Disabled all AA and it disappeared. Enabled FXAA and reflection AA and it stayed away. Enabled MSAA and it came back.

Superpatsy, could you just confirm to me please if you were running DirectX 11 when the corruption occured? Thank you.

I have the same corruption as Superpatsy when using any level of MSAA and can confirm I was running DX11.

Thank you nutsnut. A few more questions for you, if that's okay.

Is the corruption only in the bottom right? If you pan the camera to the roof, is it still there? What about around the room?

Just trying to narrow down the issue so either ourselves or Rockstar can address as needed.

Here you go Matt, as requested (I think I included everything) :D and yes as you can see I'm using DirectX 11

Thank you.

Can you answer the questions above as you had the same issue with MSAA enabled?
