*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

You're assuming the 5070 actually will be $550, going from Nvidia's recent history it wont.
There will be 200 of them in all of UK and scalped for 800+ - that's the most likely reality. MSRP is very much irrelevant, only RRP matter.

I think £600, more likely £650.

You know there is a reason there are no founders editions of these cards, $550 is not the real price, its a fake marketing price and Nvidia remain blameless for it not having to sell any at that price.

All it does is give tech jurnoes ammunition to say AMD's GPU's are overpriced, they will use the fake MSRP to hold AMD's real MSRP against.

Nvidia are smarter than these tech jurnoes, they know what they are doing.

We will have Nitro's, Pure's, Pulses, Devils, Hellhounds, Reapers, Gamings, Phantoms, Taichi's, Primes, TUF's, Masters, Challengers, Legends, Elites, the whole range and plenty. :)

@Gibbo how does it work when there sale price is unknown? Do you have these on SoR? Also wonder how it works for AIBs? It seems like a mad way to operate a business

Really doomed if people are paying 800+ when it's basically gonna be 4070 super and 12gb
That's what happens when stock is so low only desperate people can get one from scalpers. To beat scalpers and have sensible price there has to be big amount of stock. Nvidia clearly do not care about that so maybe AMD will - and that in itself might help them move a lot of cards, by simply being in stock.

Nvidia don't want to sell to gamers when that silicon can be used for AI at higher margins, so they limit supply and with that make you pay the real price.

you better bloody well live stream it or i will not be a happy chappy :p

I'm actually back home in Columbus (where the original flagship MC is located) next week and my nephew, who missed getting a 5090, is already trying to convince me to go. Not interested, better things to do and wouldn't want to spend the extra in customs getting it back.

People are camping our for AMD cards... this is how bad things have gotten.

RIP AMD if true. They need to have the same UHBR20 as Nvidia, or look inferior even more. Now there's just more excuses for folks to say AMD is isn't as good as Nvidia, just buy Nvidia instead. Hopefully they do have it for the right monitor support, else this will be AMD's next fumble of this GPU launch.

Also wanted to post a meme from another post, but not sure if my browser is dying, images don't post.
It's not that bad. I don't plan on gaming (on what is a mid-range AMD GPU) at more than 240Hz at 4K. Or even 8k. A lot of factors come into play for the overall bandwidth requirements. 8-bit vs 10-bit panels, Chroma subsampling, etc. Not just res and refresh rate. I think for the "masses" UHBR20 is something that won't be required. I also think a lot of joe public won't even know this is a thing. Come on, this round of GPU launches, Nvidia has been the king of fumbles. I don't personally think UHBR13.5 is one of them. It's just another excuse for Nvidia to charge more.

I'm completely ignorant to this...
I have DisplayPort 2.1 on my GPU, is that bad? If so how so? My screen is a 1440P 165Hz HDR 10 panel.

For that refresh rate and resolution you're not missing out. If you want to learn more then google for "display port 1.4 vs 2.1"

I’m thinking that if these (the 9070XT) can be had for around the £600 mark eventually and they are around 5070ti perf (albeit with lower RT perf), i may well entertain the idea of upgrading to one from my 4070. Might be worth it for the 50% uplift and slightly better RT over what i have.

If they are closer to £700 or more then I’ll likely just sit out this generation.

So...

I guess i don't get why "RIP AMD" my GPU is an RX 7000 series with DisplayPort 2.1, i don't get "RIP AMD" is the 9000 series not keeping the DisplayPort 2.1 standard?

Just remember the 5070ti is really a 5060ti so the 9070XT is a 60ti class competitor card.

People need to take a step back and understand just how much Nvidia has manipulated the market to get to this point and then they’ll understand AMD is not their friend either.
You’re one of the few that is objective having owned both sides cards.

$700 for a 60ti class card (9070XT) and performance that could have been had for similar pricing last year is poor value and not going to get traction in the market unless everyone is doollaly.
