The Americans sued a 4 year and nine month old

She died 3 months later, of what?
This is seriously pathetic tbh!

She died 3 months after having surgery. She survived the bike crash which led to the surgery. Surely she hasn't survived the surgery if we are nit picking here  It's the hospital they should think about suing if anybody  (The rolleyes are not for you Fox, just at the stupidity of it all ;))

I would suspect (going by experience) that she more than likely died of pneumonia.

When old people are immobilised for a while (usually from a broken hip) then its very common for them to contract pneumonia through not moving around enough.

Although the accident 3 months prior may not have directly killed her, if she had not had her hip broken then it can be argued she would still be alive...

Of course, it may have been a hospital contracted infection like MRSA but my money is COD being 1a. Pneumonia with a "Fractured Neck of Femur" as a secondary cause somewhere on the certificate (if it was in the UK as the yanks may call it something else)

What kind of braindead judge is that?

It's a 4 year old...intelligence and maturity?

As mentioned above, it makes more sense to ask the lawyer to prove that the defendant is not intelligent or mature than to do this simply based on their age. If the lawyer failed to do this, it's his fault, not the judicial system's.

this kind of thing ruins the US for me.

I witness'd a fight almost break out there because some white guy refused to go past a black woman on the bus in case he sued her for touching her inappropriately by having to squeeze by her on a packed bus.

Seriously, its all anybody talked about while i was out there. "good job, or i would have to have sued you" etc..

The "i can sue you for that" culture over there is terrible.
