The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

Well, Wolf's Rain, don't want to say too much about the ending for those who haven't seen it but yeah, I think anyone else who's watched it will know what I mean.

Flow of the series was really ruined for me by the recap episodes though. It'd have been better with them taken out.

I'm glad I've watched it though, it's a good series, but also not one I'm sure I'd rewatch.

7/10.

it quite good but the prequel fate zero is very good too and their plans for a remake of fate stay night that is more true to the manga and will tie in better with fate zero.

have look at hack//sign, full metal alchemist brotherhood, horizon log, eden of the east

Fate/Stay was from memory good and enjoyable (it's been a few years since I watched it).

Not seen Zero yet though.

Alexrose1uk, I know what you mean, the recap episodes were really annoying (although at least I bought the complete set at a reasonable price, if i'd been buying the singles at initial release it would have really annoyed me), I want to watch it again some time as it's been at least five years since I last saw it, the problem is, I've got no spare time/energy to watch even new stuff at the moment...I still haven't seen Wolf Children....

Watched 10 eps of Fate/stay night today, fantastic imo. Even despite the lack of combat between the servants (in the first 12 eps anyway) it's completely made up for by the amazing characters.

I swear when I watch stuff like anime and I see characters that I really like die or come close to death I can almost feel their pain. Shirou is a brilliant character.

Looking forward to finishing the series and then purchasing the manga to reveal the other two routes of the story, although it seems pretty hard to come by, so might have to buy it second hand off Amazon (unless anyone else has a link to buy it?)

well from what I understand like some anime series, the anime starts and the manga hasn't finish yet or is an unfinished work due writer illness/death/project canalled. so the anime people have to fill in the gap or guess how the ending will be. for prime example of this fullmetal alchemist, original Hunter x hunter series. so I suspect the same thing happen to fate stay night that why because fate zero did so well that they decided to redo fate stay night. on another note just finish watching Jormungand I thought it was very good and after the first few minute if episode one I was think this feel very much like black lagoon in the way the music, feel of the scene are done, then I read the cover more closely and find it done by same people that did black lagoon. too bad Jormungand manga end as this one series that could have lasted another 24+ episode.

Yeah I read something about the fact that a 'bad' company had gotten the rights to make the manga for the series, and no matter what, each issue they were producing they'd lose $50k at least from it (not sure how).

On a side note, I've finished the series. That ending :( Kirei angers me
Not sure where to go next, maybe Fullmetal Alchemist or Death Note?

both good series but you find that because the manga wasn't finish that fullmetal alchemist differ from the manga, but non the less it good series but fullmetal alchemist brotherhood is more true to the manga and is slightly better than the original. death note is a dark series by nature but if the dark nature of the series doesn't bother you like it.

So does the story of Brotherhood not a follow-on from the original series, so I can just dive straight into Brotherhood without watching the original? Brotherhood seems to have a lot higher ratings.

brotherhood doesn't follow on from the original as it is a class a alternate/retelling. it can be argue that it how the original should have been if the manga had been finish, but wasn't. both are good series but brotherhood has more detail in some area and is a longer series as the original is only 51 episode were brotherhood is 64 episode.

So do you think I should watch the original or Brotherhood?

well with the original their an open ending so you need to watch the movie 1 after the series as the movie 1 finish it off, where with brotherhood the movie 2 is more of a side story and isn't need to watch as the brotherhood series finish with no open ending. personally I like brotherhood better.

I would watch both. They both differ in the endings, and from memory the original series does a much better job of really getting across the motivations and connection they shared with thier mum which started off the whole journey.

In other words - Brotherhood has the ending the author intended, but doesn't do some of the beginning/backstory justice, and the original series probably does this part of the story better.

Both are good, so if you can stomach it, watch both; they evolve quite differently, and you could definately see them as different 'takes' on the same universe.

I would suggest watching several things in between watching them both if you choose to do that. Watching one straight after the oher probably wouldn't be the best of ideas.

I did feel brotherhood sped through the first parts of the story very quickly as it was done with quite some detail in the original. The chimera girl and dog episode didn't quite have the impact in brotherhood as it did in the original, which had such a punch it knocked me for six. But overall i agree that Brotherhood is better of the two

After a lot of research into Fate/SN people are saying that the VN of it is 100x better than the anime. Picked it up and so far it hasn't disappointed, gained knowledge of things I never knew before in the first ten minutes of it.

yes the first part of brotherhood isn't as good as the original if they had fuse original and brotherhood together it would have been even better but then anime would be like 80+ episode just so that you could balance it all out.

I loved both the Fate/ Stay night and Fate/Zero. I liked all the characters, which is unusual for me and usually, someone gets on my nerves.

Not for lack of trying, I couldn't get into Full Metal Alchemist or Brtoherhood...Not sure why or what was missing for me but it just wasn't doing it for me.

Proper looking forward to the next series of Shingeki no Kyojin though.
