The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

I just managed to fit in watching "Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt" on blu-ray*, which was very silly, very rude, very crude and very funny :)
I think South Park (at it's funniest/rudest), meets Powerpuff girls, meets Gainax is probably the best way to describe it :)

I'm probably going to try and find the time to watch either "Durururururururururura" or "Arakawa under the bridge x bridge" in the next few days, if nothing goes wrong, no ones ill, and the house doesn't burn down :p (it feels that for the past few months pretty much everything has gotten in the way of anime/tv viewing).

*I bought the original DVD release but had to return it because it had the ends of several episodes missing, and then finally bought the Blu-ray about 4 weeks ago I think.

well if you talking about panty & stocking with garterbelt I remember that they had at problem with the masters and that one of the disc had major problem due to it. on another note my copy of Durarara!! Blu-ray came the other day look very nice.

Aye that's the one :)
It's odd the missing 30-90 seconds per episode made a big difference :)

Aye my copy of Durarara arrived as well, which I'm looking forward to watching when I get a chance :)

Just seen the finale of Hajime no Ippo Rising its soo good :D Really hope season 4 will come this year not 2 or 3 years like they did before

Dat 1-2 bone shattering body blow

Had some time this weekend so ran through MoHS (using the combined series chronological order as that's the default on the Japanese BD set I was watching).

I still like it as a series, even the endless eight (which tends to be dissed a lot by people who haven't actually watched it and just assume that each episode is identical), and it still holds up well now. May well run through the movie next weekend if I have time.

edit:

Also watched the last episodes (of the current seasons) of a couple of things ....
Log Horizon ... ok it's no SAO but I did actually find it a lot more enjoyable than that series overall.
Silver Spoon ... season two of this agricultural high school series followed in much the same vein as the first season, which was good.

Log Horizon is due another season in the Autumn and hopefully Silver Spoon will also get one at some point.

Watched Ghost in the Shell Arise episode 2. Forgot just how amazing this series was. The sound and production quality in animation matches or beats anything Hollywood has to offer. Roll on the final 3rd instalment in June.

I have to say I don't enjoy Japanese CGI movies, it's usually beautiful to look at but extraordinarily boring, usually full of pseudo philosophy and characters with existential crisis. It's ruined all the ones I've watched

I made a start on Durarara last night which is looking interesting so far :)

I also received my Princess 9 set (with OST) from TRSI, so I'm quite looking forward to watching that again :)
And knowing that I've got a set that shouldn't rot out :)

Without wishing to go off topic, I'm going to Japan in a couple of weeks and thought this was probably a good place to ask for any purchase/shopping recommendations.

I've done the usual reading up and got a decent idea of good shopping locations in Akihabara / nakano Broadway etc.... mainly looking for decent figurines and cels, possibly some collector's stuff. But wondering if there's any personal recommendations from folks in here about particular shops/things to do that might not be common knowledge?

Andi/memyselfandi has been a few times. He is the guy to get info from.I expect he will be around later tonight :)
Although i think a few more have also been

Personally I preferred Mandarake in Nakano Broadway and Shibuya to the one in Akihabara* (you'll probably need to look up where the Shibuya one is in advance as it can be a pain to find (from the street it's just a doorway with steps heading downwards)). Whilst in Shibuya there are several shop in shop official anime related stores on the 6th? floor of Parco 1. When I was last there there was some quite nice stuff in the Fuji TV shop there (I think that there is also a Fuji TV shop out at Odaiba but I haven't gotten out there yet). * but go to the Akihabara one anyway.

I did see some quite good deals on figures in Mandarake Grand Chaos but that's down in Osaka.

Other than that always hit a Book Off if you see one as they can have quite good deals on DVD/BD/CDs and whilst they are second hand everything I've got from there has been in pristine condition. What they have will vary enormously store by store though.

Other than that wander around in general and poke you head in everywhere (KBooks and Animate are favourites of mine). The UDX building in Akihabara has a couple of floors of restaurants (one of the floors has some reasonable public loos too which can be useful).

If you are spending any reasonable amount of time in Tokyo then I'd look at picking up a Suica card as it makes sing public transport even easier and you don't end up with a pocket full of change.

Roll on 6 months time when I'll be out there :)

edit: ANDARIAL, :D
