Watched a few things recently, mostly over this weekend due to having to wait whilst various amount of data were synced around my lan, ...

Super Sonico The Animation ... if I was being kind I would say that this was weak. Ok if you want to turn your brain off for a while.

Patlabor (1st movie) ... re-watch of this good film. Animation looks a bit dated now but still a jolly good watch.

Full Metal Panic ... one of the first anime series I ever watch and still one of my favourites. Yes it has massive plot holes but it's still a great combination of action, humour and general fun.

Bodacious Space Pirates ... another re-watch. Again good fun with reasonable animation, characters and a story line which is at least fairly coherent even if it is completely far-fetched.

I was tempted to pick up SAO parts 2-4 on BD as my local HMV has a sale on (due to relocation) which made them cheaper than Amazon but I have other things to spend/save on at the moment.

I watched blood lad, strike the blood, witch craft works, Hajime no Ippo - new Challenger, up to episode 19 of Hajime no Ippo - rising within the last 10 days.

Can someone recommend me some anime, im still fairly new to it all. Heres what I currently own:

Samurai Champloo
Claymore
Basilisk
Naruto unleashed
Afro Samurai+resurrection
Samurai Seven
Moribito
Death Note
Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood
Steins gate
Summer Wars
The Girl Who Lept Through Time
Trigun + movie
Spice And Wolf
Princess Monoke
My Neighbour Toroto
Howls Moving Castle
Spirited Away
Fairy Tail
Black Lagoon+Blood trails
Final Fantasy advent children Complete

Is there any more studio Ghibili that I haven't got that I should really buy?
Im open to any type of anime, I bought spice and wolf and studio ghibli which is totally different to what I actually like (action/dark/) and was amazed how awesome the stories were. So yeah please recommend away:)

Ive watched sword art online, which got boring halfway. And im gonna wait till attack on titan is out to buy.

*mumbles something about Bubblegum crisis* ;)

Bubblegum Crisis (original) is really quite good, it's an oldie, but still IMO one of the best OVA series :) (there are clips on youtube, mainly of the BCG 2032 and 2033 music segments from the DVD's that had the songs set to clips), it's a little hard to describe except think an anime set in something like the world of Blade Runner, but with more violently corrupt corporations and much more heavily armed police force.
Freedom is a nice series, about a space colony and the youths...
Eden of the East is very good, and you can get the comple series + film cheap now on blu ray.
Perfect Blue is a good thriller.
Which leads on to Paprika (same director), which is also good.

If you can find it, Macross Plus is good, with a pretty awesome soundtrack (something most of the Macross anime have in common, which isn't surprising given the fact the franchise relies heavily on the idea of music as part of human culture*).

For more Ghibli, I strongly recommend Porco Russo, The Cat Retuns and Whisper of the Heart (Whisper is not one that I thought I'd like anything like as much as i did).
*If that makes sense, I've been up most of the night :p

Whisper of the Heart is one of my favourite Ghibli's ... although I'm looking forward to the theatrical release of the latest one in a few weeks.

I'd add:
Canaan
Burst Angel
High School of the Dead

Ill look into everything that's been recommended, cheers:)

The Patema Inverted Kickstarter is now live if anyone is interested :)
I've backed it for one of the"ultimate" edition sets, they've still got about 100 of the early bird ultimate edition set slots, most of the normal price ones left at the time or posting :)

Apparently From Up On Poppy Hill is on Film4 5:15 on Sunday.

edit: Werewolf you ^&%^&%^& ... that Patema Inverted looks very interesting, not used Kickstarter before but now I seem to have ;) ... looks like there is only ~36 of the early bird "ulitmate" sets left.

I think this is the third time I've used it :)

It's interesting that the Ultimate set will (if they have any left over) get a release with an SRP of over £80, which I suspect won't give alltheanime any more than they're getting from the kickstarter deal from what I understand of the sort of amount that normally filters back to the publisher.

I may watch Poppy Hill on Sunday, although probably the Blu-ray:)

Just finished watching `Log Horizon`
Enjoyed this more than I was expecting, now looking at something in a similar vein.
Is sword Art On-line any good?Similar to LH?
Seen various reviews online panning it and others saying it is good
What do you lot think? :D

A lot of people do like SAO ... personally I did find it a bit over-rated at the time. Overall Log Horizon is lighter than SAO ... of course in the same vein you have things like the Hack series' which probably sit in between the two.

I really enjoyed SAO, it moves at a faster pace than LH, that being said, I'm only about 10 episodes into LH at the moment.

On another note, anime-on-line is selling Fruits Basket complete on DVD for a tenner at the moment, I haven't seen it in years so looking forward to going through it again.

Thanks for the comments on SAO,might pick this up,any others similar to LH i should check out?
Fruits Basket ,i liked this, still got the boxset i purchased around 10 years ago:eek:.
Wow so long ago i feel like Methuselah:D

SAO
No Game No Life (Airing)
Btooom!
Accel World
.hack series
Blade and Soul (Airing)
Mirrai Nikki
Danganronpa

Log Horizon 2 comes out sometime later this year as well, which is nice.

Watched a few things ....

Re-watch of Tari Tari .... nice little series set around Enoshima (been there :)) ... I say I re-watched it, I may well have slept through several episodes ....

The Wind Rises ... I'll spoiler it as it's a new release.

Interesting film covering the life of the designer of the Zero fighter from his early life until the end of WW2. It is not a Studio Ghibli fantasy film, it's more semi-factual a la Grave of the Fireflies (i.e. related to real world events rather than being in a fantasy world). It is not a happy film at times although it is a good one with the usual level of animation.

It was quite amusing listening to the parents who had brought their children to see it with no research. Quote of the day being "Daddy, what's a lung haemorrhage?".

Nice it being in Japanese with English subtitles though (another thing that some parents hadn't thought of despite the cinema listing indicating English subtitles).
