The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

If you like Claymore these are probably worth investigation.

Berserk TV Series and then films.

Maybe Rurouni Kenshin
Record of Lodoss War OVA
Moribito Guardian of the Spirit

Maybe just Slayers, all be it only if you don't mind it being a comedy as well.

Agree with you there Neil79... would have been superb if they did another season or two with Claymore.

Will check out Berserk when I get a bit more time. Thanks in advance! :D

Hmmm .... article on the BBC News website (here) on Studio Ghibli halting production to allow them to reorganise and house-keep post-Miyazaki.

(Previous reports had them basically stopping all production and dropping back to a small staff to handle the rights to existing properties but that info was amended after better translations of the primary source material).

Hopefully they will make more films in the future :(

I hope, and suspect that Ghibli will continue, but it could well be they (at least for the time being) become sort of an incubator for talent rather than their normal production, as from memory Miyazaki and co have expressed concerns about the lack of support/training for traditional anime production methods in the past, and they have tried to encourage newer directors in the past.

Possibly more (and publicly available?) Ghibli shorts and less full length?

Publicly available shorts would be good ... in fact it would be nice if they put out some releases similar to the kickstarter from Third Window Films the other week where they are putting out a release which showcases short live-action films by three up-and-coming Japanese directors in one set.

It would be nice if Studio Ghibli did work with some young animation directors to do a similar sort of animation release.

I received Mardock Scramble the Third Exhaust through the post Monday, so I'm currently in the process of rewatching the first two films :)

Tokyo Ghoul & Akame ga kill (EP 5)

Not so good today, Tokyo was a history lesson of one of the characters and Akame was pretty much the same but with added fanservice

I watched this like 5 times on repeat in full screen and still had man tears each time.

Not enough blood and guts for me :p

Right now I'm watching through Tokyo Ghoul, SAO II and Guilty Crown.

I've finished like 50 or so anime's this year alone, oh god. :p

I finished watching Mardock Scramble a few minutes ago and liked the third film, the ending felt a bit bittersweet.

I'll probably try and watch it again in a couple of weeks, as I'm fairly sure I missed bits as I've been so tired that I kept having to pause, or found myself getting distracted (so a film that was just over an hour took about 3 to watch).

I'm also going to try and read the book as I noticed it's available on the kindle app fora reasonable price :)

can someone help me out? i had an anime on my HDD a few years ago that I only watched the first episode of but it came highly recommended, and what i can remember watching was awesome. this strange girl moved into this boy's house all of a sudden. she had..uh..powers? i can remember them wrestling under a bridge when walking home from school. i feel like a dude on a motorbike may have run her down?

urgh, not gonna find it, am i? it was dead good, what i can remember.

Only thing I can think of immediately is FLCL

dude, that's IT! just wiki'd it. thanks! gonna download (ahem, buy) it all over again. hope it's not terrible! i'd forgotten about the guitar she had, and the creepy factories on the edge of town. did you like it? anything similar you'd recommend? just remember it was pretty strange and kinda funny.

Hmm it is EXTREMELY weird. Not sure if I can think of anything else quite like it off the top of my head because it's damn bizarre and not really up the vein of stuff I tend to watch.

Well, caught up on the latest episode of SAO II and got to episode 17 of Guilty Crown, all I can say for the latter's story is just 'wat'. Only still watching it for the animation, really.
