The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

I have been looking at finding a good place to buy Anime online and I found this, which to me looks incredibly dodgy as it's region 0 and has all 25 episodes on 1 DVD, am I right?

ShopAnimeDVD

You are absolutely correct as it has all the bootleg flags flying for it (region 0, low disc count for the number of episodes and Chinese subtitles).

Avoid that place like the bubonic plague.

Neil777 and memyselfandi thank you very much for the tips, I will look into those.

When you say "the kana" is that both katakana and hiragana? I am a little confused as to the difference at the moment :)

I just thought of something else, if you're using firefox there's an extension called rikaichan that gives a translation when you hover of Japanese text.

And when you're ready to start reading things look for the Japanese Graded Readers, they come in both book form and apps for IOS devices.

Rewatching spice and wolf, with my preference to action and violence this is actually up there in my top 5 anime. Cant remember who suggested it on here, but thanks:)

Probably me or Rob :)
Glad you're enjoying, I wish they'd do more of the books!

Is there any series similar to spice and wolf in the way it follows two companions and you see there relationship develop over the series?
It doesn't have to be romance, it could be enemies that turn friends or brothers/sisters etc.

well just finish watching Knights of Sidonia thought it was very good too bad I had to sign up for Netflx to watch it.

wtf is this what Anime classes as a "HE"

Looks like a her to me :confused:

trust me when it comes anime there are no end of 'feminine' males, it seems to be a 'trend' in some animes. Megumu Touzokuyama is a perfect example in Kanojo ga Flag o Oraretara. There's loads, some even have them being dressed up as girls....it likely stems from Bishōnen which is rather popular in Japan/Asia

Aye, it's a style that some like so you get them (Ouran School host club for example has a couple from memory).
I can't remember the correct Japanese term for them (bishoun or something similar), but it has a long history in Japanese culture I think.

I've not really been watching much anime recently, but I am currently in the process of uncasing as many of my discs as I can, unfortunately for that process I liked boxsets, and I'm not about to put things like my Chobits box in the loft :p
I've done about 150 discs so far* and an increasingly large stack of empty case.
Anything other than an M-lock, true amaray or specialist case is going in the bin, as I've got hundreds of them in the loft already.

*I bought 3x 300 disc cases as a compromise between cost/weight/size and they're small enough to move and store easily without spending twice as much (for example a 300 disc case is the same sort of price as a 120 one).

Not really as people out there don't tend to be the two dimensional stereotypes you see in animes :)

Re-watched a couple of things at the weekend ...
Vandread - amusing sci-fi
Negima!? - fairly amusing wizardry

and made a start on a re-watch of Stellvia.

(sigh, 41 days to Japan ....)

Both of those are great anime, but not everyone's cup of tea (very little action, more romance with some comedy and a lot of drama).
